Map

Took it really easy. Had to remind myself to keep focus because at slower pace I tend to get lazy and do everything slower (navigating/map folding/planning ahead/checking control descriptions).

A few smaller mistakes mostly inside the circle, lacked precision a bit today. One larger mistake of around 50".

S-2) Good.
3) Unconsciously knew I was a bit too much west, so relocating in the circle was fast. +10".
4-8) Good, nice flow as well.
9) Had a perfect attackpoint, the dot knoll southeast of the circle. Expected to see the control, but didn't and then had to stop for a few seconds. Could've been more precise with compass. +15".
10-12) Really keeping the pace down across the heather. Overtook dad at 11.
13) Good route choice, except for the final part where I chose to cross all the ditches. Slow and annoying.
14) Not precise enough with compass in the final part. I knew I was a bit off, but not how much so got a bit insecure. Narrow white strip wasn't that recognisable, but realised where I was when I got to the bigger white area. +45".
15) Good. Tricky navigation into the control.
16) Didn't read control description, so didn't expect the control in a gully. Hesitating in the final part because I was lacking a good attackpoint. +10".
17) Sloppy. Ticked off all the features, but wasn't precise enough in the circle. +15".
18-22) Good.
23) Tricky map reading. Slowed down a lot but still made a small mistake in the circle. +10".
24) Compass.
25) Simplified the control to 'across the road, over the hill', but didn't see I should've gone a bit more south as well. Bit annoyed. +10".
26) Very precise.
27) A bit insecure in the final part, and popped out on the trail before I expected.

Happy with a relatively good run, was really enjoying it and kind of disappointed the course was already over.

2x10. Since achilles is doing so well I'm going to start doing these every other day, but with some added weight.

With two accelerations. Checking part of the course. Not really sure how I felt, not really bad but not as fresh and light as I'd hoped. Probably also because of time stress, I was rushing a bit to make it on time, not the best preparation.

Course

Fun course. Quite tough as well with a climb at the beginning, then a long set of stairs and finally a long gradual climb and unpaved descent. Started fast but managed to keep the pace quite even, running with nr. 2 all the time. He accelerated in the final part and despite sprinting too I couldn't close the gap anymore. Body reacting well to racing, felt quite light and fresh afterwards, just couldn't go any faster. Time to add some speed work to solve that.

Running warm up/down 10:01 [1] 1.58 km (6:20 / km) +10m 6:08 / km

Easy cool down. Pleasant.

Note
(rest day)

First full rest day in a while. Achilles is doing really well lately, no morning stiffness, no troubles during running. Will carefully increase the running volume, also since it's likely going to be too cold and wet for cycling soon.

Partly cloudy 14℃.

Running felt a bit heavy, wasn't really enjoying it the first half. Along the bike shop to pick up new inner tubes. Lower calves a little stiff and tight.

Cloudy 16℃.

Picked up Tim at his place, plan was to go to the Veluwe. Unfortunately got a flat tire because of a thorn and spare tire also didn't work properly so turned back. Too bad, better luck next time.
