Gym Climbing 2:00:00 [3]

A few new top rope climbs have gone up so we spent a while playing on them. I onsighted a 21,a 20 and a 16.

Then some leading. I got the nobbly nude 18 clean which was satisfying. Got 80% of the way up a purple 19/20 but was too pumped to continue.

Bob's Hollow, first day of trip.

Didn't do all that well. Got to the 6th clip (out of 8) on 'Unknown' (19, 20m).

Warmed up on toprope. Did the yellow 16 twice on lead (downclimbed once). Also did a new (for me) red 21 with a few rests. It'll be much easier next time when I know what holds to use. One hold (small horn) on the red 21 spun pi on me and that spat me off. Then I pumped myself out screwing it back in.

A few chinups to finish but not much because I was pretty tired already.

Started off slow as per usual, pretty much walked the whole first lap and half of the second. Started to run about 100m before the end of the second lap and kept up a fast pace 'till the end. The sand kills my legs.

A few warm ups and then mostly leading again. 17s and 16s, easy stuff, but needed to get back into leading.

Stupidly tried to do a 22 roof section and fell (~5m) at the second clip. Ended up eye-level with Bondy. Very funny and the whole gym saw it! I got back up and made the clip but didn't finish the climb. I needed a better plan, as opposed to just jumping on it and looking for holds as I go along. I even gave myself a rope burn on the hand that was clipping because I didn't let go of it as I fell.

Finished off with an exhausting game of twister on the 45 wall.

8:00 some jogging
4:30 jog
4:30 working hard just to keep up the pace.
Gosh I'm unfit!

Onsighted a blue 17.

Took it nice and easy, only doing 3 leads and a few toprope warm-ups. Downclimbed a yellow 16 lead for the first time.

Had a sore right forearm all night. Have had this since last Wednesday. Seems to be ok if I don't push it.

This was the first effort to get into running so we walked a lot of it. We only guessed that one lap = 1km so will have to check that.

Partners: James and Grand
Was hurting (knees and blisters) most of the way but picked up in the last 2 hours.

Never got as fatigued as I normally do, but had plenty of knee and blister pain to slow me down.
