Orienteering 2:36:30 [3] 10.51 km (14:53 / km) +334m 12:51 / km
ahr:106 max:177 shoes: Inov 8 Mudclaw 300 (Yellow)

Control tagging, lovely snowy afternoon but really hard work and lots of stopping to create the tags from tape and check the codes etc... slippy in places and ropey underfoot trying to spot the boulders and wet wood under 2-3 inches of snow.
Tried to run as many hills as I could but I was finding it hard work.
Really really cold feet by the end, even in new sealskinz socks... the mudclaws are like sponges and just soak up the cold water... brr.

SRC Tempo session. Hard up Bervie Braes to war memorial, then up and down to gate til regroup. Hard along to castle steps then down and up til regroup. Hard over to round house then back up to farm and back. Then cruise down through woods and to finish.
Felt really tough at top of Bervie Braes? Dying by memorial. Stronger later on. Good to push the legs when still tired. Balmoral will really test me this weekend...

Shakedown of the legs after Sunday over to Chapel of Barras, around the road loop clockwise then back over the hill and home. Hard work, winter hanging on with a drizzly, cold breezy evening, legs heavy, tight and struggling to find the nice easy pace it should have been.
Think it helped though...

Note

Ouchy... so much ache... quads feel like I've had dead leg punches to them. Back stiff this morning. Very tired, massively hungry too... used up 3200 calories apparently according to garmin. I ate a lot the last two nights.

R knee cap pain not so bad today, just a little tender, maybe just wee muscles over worked on rough and hard terrain. Usual leg problems not too bad, bit tight maybe in inner upper thighs.

Bit of stretching and pilates tomorrow should help.

Running Training hills (Mixed Trail) 4:06:09 [5] 33.39 km (7:22 / km) +1217m 6:14 / km
(injured) shoes: Inov 8 Mudclaw 300 (Yellow)

Epic long run from quarry car park over Mt Shade and Clachnaben then down to Glen Dye Lodge and across to Kerloch via Builg Road. Over and down to Knockburn then along road to Strachan before a last slog up onto Scolty then a slow painful trudge through Banchory...
Raining for first hour up onto Clachnaben, stayed overcast and chilly the whole way after that.
L quad starting to tighten on last couple of miles, R knee a bit niggly. Usual stuff totally fine today.
