W/up pre race... wanted more but also wanted to get going and get home

DNC @ Tyrebagger - Long 4.7k

Shambles, again. Spiked #1 and 2 then just ignored the bearing on compass and convinced myself that trees below me were trees above control so aimed for right of them only to hit the wee path miles North. Slogged across heather towards control but not far enough and then started the headless chicken circles... didn't execute plan.
Slow to #4, smooth through rest of moorland to #13 then on way to #14 I cut across terrain hoping to pick up big steep ridge only to swerve left and hack through young trees and end up on track miles off line. Left me with a horrid terrain line to attack from.
#16 I came up short and slowed looking for control on wrong ridge (by about 200m and having not crossed a track)
#18 tried to contour straight and drifted right onto track.

Watching TV and using spiky ball to ease back pain. Worst it's been after running for a long time. Clearly rough terrain orienteering isn't good for it... after Devil's I felt pretty good.

Devil's Burdens Relay - Leg 3 with Steve Watters.
Really good effort today, expected to struggle from start but once legs had loosened off along past Bishop Hill I was flying (for me at least)
Climb out of Kinnesswood was typically brutal, fast hike up to crags then we cut left and shortened route but no faster. Lovely blast down to low ground then struggle up to #11. Brad C did really well coming back at us before we got away across towards West Lomond on the single track.
Hard track down to top of Maspie Den is brutal on legs, so fast but something like 3k before a wild descent down the woods.
Evil bastard last 300m up new climb to finish which I was expecting but was even worse than anticipated.
Delighted with performance considering winter I've had...
