Orienteering race 43:55 [5] 6.09 km (7:13 / km) +30m 7:02 / km

Middle Distance @ Balmedie - Blue - 5.0k

Tried to go hard on this, hoping I could navigate better than I can in the dark.
Interesting concept with three controls missing their codes, when you got into the area there were other dummy controls (same idea as trail O) and you had to choose the correct location and punch the control based on the description.

Solid early on, picking mostly decent routes and moving quite well, #2 along dunes not ideal but easier navigation. Good through #3 and #6 joker controls, ran hard right along to far end of map before a classic oxygen debt mistake on a 1:7500 map as I shot about 200m past the attack point on a path at full tilt, had to relocate off a fence to West and then return to the control... looks like I lost 2nd place here

Completely knackered at end, lungs bursting, just didn't have speed I used to and back never felt good, especially on the sharp climbs.

SRC Short Hills - Double Reverse Pyramid

Brutal session, w/up around Cowie then up to Glenury and down to wee roundabout by Cowie Burn.

Start hard up to end of Polbare Close, easy back, hard up to Megray Row, easy back, hard to Glenury Rd, easy back then hard up to Mildens Row, easy back. Then back up the reps to longest one.

Longer recovery then repeat whole set again.

Back held out, tummy felt a bit ropey but survived too, but tried to join folk for an extended cool down around town but back stiffened up too much, too sore.

Splits to follow...

DNC @ Muir of Dinnet South - Long - 5.2k - 5th

Very mixed bag, took it very steady on #1 as it looked a tricky one, steady at #2 then somehow missed #3 left and looped around massively like last week

Drifted left on #4 too as I started to attack losing more time. Nearly overshot attackpoint on track to #7 as I was on railway line and not track alongside... idiot.

Drifted way left on way to #10 again, just not able to stick to a line. Bit lucky on #11 as the thicker trees threw me completely and lost confidence in line, similar to #12, so much slower and a bit lucky.

Good relocation at #13 off the wee ride to East, then hit track to finish miles right so huge long blast to end...

ahr:130 max:175 shoes: Adizero Boston Boost (Orange)

Cruise from Oli's swimming down to leisure centre before a quick loo stop then run back up for end of lesson. Don't do enough recovery runs... they are good for the body and great for the mind.
