My day began with a memorial service for Jane Betros. Many orienteers were there; Gene and Dick shared nice comments and memories of Jane during the service. Betsy had put together a large collection of photographs from her mother's life. Included some snapshots of a very young-looking Spike, and the never-aging image of Dave L.

Then, since Jane made the first O map of SMP, it seemed fitting to honor her memory today by running my test loop. Weather was much better than the first time (although 20 degrees colder; bbrrr!) Footing was easy, with a few inches of fine, soft snow. (We're having an usually snowy winter.) I tried to push the pace, especially towards the end, when I get tired. Knocked a big chunk of time off the first run. Which just shows how much I can improve simply by reading the map better.

It was a beautiful day to be out in the woods; Jane would've loved it.

Note

Tweaked my right knee a few times today; sometimes it really hurt. Time to return to I&I, taping and PT for a while. Also, Mike has been gone for about 24 hours, and already the house is a complete mess. So easy to slide back into my "single" ways :)
