Fifty straight minutes at PNS: a new PR. It's so cool to start running late in life; I get to add a new PR every month or so.

Felt pretty good, but I got bored around 40 minutes. Saw several adult turkeys (no babies yet) and one deer who was so used to people that she didn't bother to move until I was less than 10 feet away.

run/walk 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)
ahr:150

I jogged slowly on the trails at SMP. It was good practice for what-could-be at West Point: wet, muddy and rocky. (Okay, not quite right: my route was almost perfectly flat.)

I actually didn't feel so bad tonight. The weather probably helped: 53 degrees and rainy. Valerie would have worn shorts and a tank-top. I wore long pants and a short sleeved shirt. I would have worn a long-sleeved shirt, if I had brought one. I didn't warm up for 15 minutes.

Saw deer, rabbits and a big Tom turkey.

English Landing Park

The goal today was to actually run for 40 minutes, at a good pace, and try to cover 5K. Note that this was not a race; I was trying to go as fast as possible, but keeping the HR under 160. I made it, just. I'm a little bummed that I'm still running so slowly. Must remember to take small steps in improvement, and not try to rush.

One observation: I haven't seen a snake in years, and today I saw two; what are the odds? Are they dropping from planes?
