orienteer race 44:00 [4] *** 3.6 km (12:13 / km)
ahr:160 13c

Team Trial at S - F. One of my fastest (min/k) woods runs ever. I started in the middle of the pack, and lots of faster runners passed me. I decided to try to keep up with them as long as I could. Due to the flat terrain, and my recent training, I was able to go relatively fast. I was with other green runners for about half the course.

In addition, my navigation was pretty clean. One small bobble on #5 (drifted down the hill) and some temporary confusion on the trail near 11, but that's it. So, overall I was pretty pleased today.

orienteer race 31:00 [4] *** 2.6 km (11:55 / km)

Sprint at UMSL. I did OK whenever I was reading the map. I had watched the Team Trials runners first, and thought I knew exactly how to get through the controls around the train tracks. So I put away my map and kept jogging. Just as I was approaching the train underpass, I saw a control out of the corner of my eye. I almost ran right past #5! That will teach me to assume anything...

I managed to jog a lot of the course. My legs got tired towards the end, especially on all the stairs. Overall, I was pleased with my run. I don't think the HR reflects my effort; 10 bpm must be due to the heat.

run/walk (warm up/cool down) 20:00 [3]

run/walk 55:00 [3]

Another long jog at PNS, another PR. It was tough to keep my pace today, since my HRM was acting up (forgot to spray Static Guard on my shirt). According to the watch, my HR was either 0, 80 or 193.

My legs felt dead this morning when I woke up, but then they were fine during the run. I got a little bit tired at the end, but no more than would be expected.

There were a lot of people out today, including another jogger on the upper trail, which hardly ever happens.
