March training camp at Knob Noster state park. Mike set a control picking course. This was a lot of fun. This map is perfect for this type of training, since it is essentially a contours-only map (there are few trails or vegetation differences). It took a lot of concentration, especially at the beginning, to follow the map precisely. I walked mostly, some jogging (beautiful open woods) while practicing reading the map and anticipating what I would see over the next ridge. Great training.

Long slow control pick-up at Bluffwoods. It was nice, because I haven't been on this map very much. Also, it was a beautiful day to be outside. Mike very graciously agreed to pick up the controls on the very steep hills. But, that meant I had my own brand of fun, with the crappy woods, steep stream beds and thorns. Ah, Missouri woods :)

Overall, a welcome change of pace, both mentally and physically.
