I asked my physical therapist if I could start rowing again. I tried to demonstrate how my foot would flex, using my hand as a model. She wasn't getting it. Then I remembered my amazing iPhone. Pulled up a video from the Concept 2 page :) She said I could try it, but for no more than 5 minutes at first.

Felt weird, but didn't hurt. Just rusty, I guess. However, it was just enough to make my hamstring unhappy again, so I bagged my intended aquajoging fo tonight.

Note

Picked up my orthotics from the doctor today. Will start wearing them for one hour more each day. While I am glad that I am doing something to prevent future injury, it's still a bit depressing knowing I've added one more aid to keep my body going. Sigh.

I had planned to be in the water for an hour. But there was a kids classes off one diving board and a group of big teenagers doing cannonballs off the other diving board. It was hard to find enough room to move around. Plus, I tweaked my hamstring the other day, and it started to feel funny again, so I packed it in early.

saw the podiatrist today. Good news: I can start wearing the boot one hour less per day. One more week and it's gone. Then I start wearing the orthodics for one hour more per day. Follow up visit in three weeks. Jogging is at least 6 weeks away.

Good thing I signed up for Yellow at West Point.

I decided to try to find a pool today. So I went to the county YMCA, which allows residents 3 free passes per year. I thought it would be empty on a cold miserable day: not. Everyone who is afraid of the cold (or wanted the kids out of the house for a few hours) was there. Used whichever weight machine was available, in any order (as long as there was no weight put on the foot). Then I jogged in the lap lanes.

I miss my private ice rink and pool. On the other hand, there were lots of sights to distract me and make the time go faster, and the turbulent water helped raise my HR much higher than usual.
