walk warm up/down 20:00 [1]

orienteer race 1:55:44 [4] *** 5.1 km (22:42 / km)
13c

Goal was to walk cleanly through the course. No expectations since I'm out of shape and out of practice.

I was excited to see our long first leg. Read the map well in the beginning but then got the up and down mixed up. Wandered for too long before I stumbled on control 8. I least I knew where I was, finally.

Next few controls went fairly well. Was moving OK, keeping contact.
Until I got tired climbing the hill to 7. Didn't think clearly , wandered too long. Finally figured it out. Very tired the rest of the course. Stumbled my way in.

Disappointed to be dead last on the course. I never wanted to be back here again. At least I know what it will take to improve.

Beautiful woods, excellent course design, nice weather and good company helped make it a good day, overall.

orienteer 30:00 [1]

Nice walk on the model map. The woods were so beautiful and open , especially compared to last weekend.

walk warm up/down 10:00 [1]

run/walk 20:00 intensity: (4:00 @1) + (16:00 @3)

jog/walk at Clinton. Between the wet ground and decaying leaves, the woods smelled really bad, like urine, or New Jersey.

Note

Time to celebrate tonight. After four months of trying, I finally made it through 21 consecutive (work) days complaint-free! I decided to limit it to work, because that's my most challenging situation. It was really hard. Mostly I had to learn to keep my mouth shut (which is almost impossible for me!)

erg 15:00 [2]

I think I read somewhere that navigational ability declines sharply at age 47....

walk 30:00 intensity: (15:00 @1) + (15:00 @2)

Beautiful day for a walk at Clinton. I am SO ready for next weekend; I'm going walk all over the other slow pokes.
