Probably not a smart move to try my Clinton 10K after doing very light exercise for two weeks, but I needed to do it in January and there is a PTOC race tomorrow. Perfect conditions: sunny and 45. Although there were still remnants of slushy snow, ranging from 0 to 4 inches in places. Fun to see all the animal tracks out there.
Decided to walk most of it and take it easy. But I took it TOO easy at the start, and went to the wrong reentrant at 1. Didn't realize it until I was halfway to 2, but decided to keep on going.
Deliberately took the long route on the roads to 6, just to try it (although one of the goals of this training is to get better at moving through the woods). I was faster the first time ( when I basically went straight, but was jogging some of the time).
Had to stop often to stretch. And I got really tired. On my way to 12, I looked at the rest of the course, and how long I had already been out, and decided to just head back in.
Quite disappointed about my lack of fitness.
