There was a PTOC sprint today, but I didn't feel like spending 2.5 hours getting there and back, so I set a sprint course for myself on campus instead. I used the control locations from the 2006 KS champs and set new routes. Did not move at race pace, but it was still a decent effort.
Track is a little wonky at 1, as I went under the building. I avoid some dogs at 4 and couldn't cut through the Campanile after 6 since it was surrounded by fencing.
Glad to practice on a complex sprint map as preparation for the Reykjavik city sprint in a few weeks. It was also good to check out this summer's construction blockages, as I'm setting courses here soon.

I wanted to do a longish day on the trails, but I was dreading it today. Allergies are pretty bad, and I haven't been running much. Plus it's hot and sticky. Decided to do repeats of 7 min jog/ 3 min walk. I was prepared to stop at 60 minutes if necessary.
Walked 10 minutes to warm up, then started to jog. I was surprised that it felt OK. After a few minutes, I would even say it felt easy. This was a real surprise. I managed to jog up some of the inclines (but walked most of them) and barely looked at my watch during the whole outing. Wow, weight training may actually be paying off. Overall, a very nice day in the woods. I was even glad to to see a few deer, after seeing no animals at all last weekend in WI.
Edit: well, it felt easy because it was easy. Just looked at my times from a year ago, and I was about 30 seconds per K slower today. Ah, so, not an improvement. But if going easy meant I kept moving for 90 minutes, I'll take it.
