Orienteering at Heidmork near Reykjavik. The terrain here is strange: several inches of squishy moss over small rocks. So every step was an adventure: how far will I sink, and what will be under my foot? Very tiring, like walking in sand.
I had a hard time understanding the map at first, and had big booms at 3 and 4. But after that, the map clicked and I walked with confidence ( no way are my legs strong enough to run in this terrain).
The yellow was the soft mossy stuff, white was low trees and shrubs and dark green was densely packed pines. The "marshes" were actually just mud flats, but they were distinct and quite easy to run through.
I had left my water bottle at the apartment, so I got very tired and dehydrated out there. Picked up noiticably after I visited the water stop. This was a physical and mentally challenging course, but I really enjoyed it.

Edit: notice that the magnetic north lines are slanted relative to the edges of the paper. How would an Orienteer manage to find their way on this map if they were following the OUsa logo ? :)
Nce evening relaxing at the apartment, and one last dinner at Icelandic Fish and Chips with Caroline, Jesse and Cristina.
