Cycling class is definitely helping me develop cycling muscles. I even got out of the saddle a few times today, including the Kasold hill. Nice to get out before it go too hot. Today is day 11 of the last 12 where the temp will be over 100. And my last day as water girl for a while :) Home to watch Tour on TV, and follow Wimbledon and WMOC on the internet. A good day.

Goal today was to do a long O course, keeping up the HR, and trying to jog up the hills. I taped together the Mt Oread, Daisy Hill, Robinson Gym and West campus maps, and Mike drew me a course. I wish I had started earlier in the morning, but other than that, I had a good time. Jogged up most hills, but not all (particularly Daisy Hill). Kept a good pace and navigation was good. Got really hot on the walk home, and had to sit in the cool basement for quite a while to recover.

started off my usual long run: 10 min warm-up, then started to jog at an aerobic pace. But I was really struggling to keep up my HR and was already hating my beeping watch. I knew I couldn't keep this up today.

so I switched to repeats of 7 jog/ 3 walk. I tried to keep an aerobic pace during the runs. I was constantly looking at my watch, to check my HR and see how much time was left in my 7 min stint. Finally gave up and walked it in. Don't know what was the exact problem today. Hard to tell, between tired legs from previous week's training, lack of sleep or high temps. Or a combination of all of the above. Home in time to enjoy the end of today's Tour stage.
