Day 1 in Laramie. Definitely a good idea to come here, to get used to orienteering again. Head was not into the map for the first few controls. Actually mispunched 2 (I thought the code was correct) but noticed things were not right, as soon as I left the marker. Took a minute to figure it out.

Small mistakes the rest of the course, but nothing drastic. Must remember to look up more tomorrow.

Really pleased with physical effort today; fitness is much improved.

Lots of folks here from all over, so many good conversations before and after the race. Looking forward to more at dinner tonight.

Ooops, almost forgot: Jenny,Malte and I made the requisite visit to the Ames Monument this afternoon.

Edit: added FR track and route

I hadn't run in more than a week, so it was definitely time to get out there and remind my body what it felt like. Especially before I race this weekend.

But I had to wait when I got home, until the temp dropped below 100. Psychologically, I couldn't go out before then. Plus, it felt like it was getting "cooler" while I was running :)

Just a short jog, with three hill repeats thrown in.

Now to do a bit of packing, and then a one hour phone call with our event consultant.

See everyone in Laramie tomorrow!

Rode the usual loop, by myself this time. Some thoughts than wandered through my head: the unexpected ending of my last book; which weeds thrive in a drought and which don't; did we miss a new "Inspector Lewis" episode last night; the benefits of sun tunnels; how weird it is to see the leaves turning color in August; remember to email Corey; and I gotta fix the downstairs toilet. Tonight.
