Usual long run at Clinton. This was a lot of fun, for several reasons:
1. temps in the 60s! Woohoo, I felt like I was back in Laramie!
2. there was a trail run out there today, so I had lots of company. And the trails were all marked. Nice to see, even if I didn't need it.
3. even got a few "looking good" or " good job" from event workers who thought I was in the race :)
4. Broke through 10 K for distance, and under 9min/k, for the first time on this route. Yeah for incremental progress!

Only bummer was getting a stitch, again. I can rule out food this time, because I had a light breakfast, more than 2 hours prior. I kept having to stop to let the stitch clear up. Finally noticed that it was worse right after an uphill. (The first time I got a stitch, in a sprint race, was right after I ran uphill, too). I think, since I'm new to running uphill, that my form, or breathing, is not right. So I made an effort to breathe deeper and stand more upright whenever I went uphill, and that seemed to help.

Mike set a fun training course out at Clinton. We had only snippets of the map, and had to stay on the trail until we thought we had reached the circle. There were no tapes or markers. Great training, especially since I know the area so well. Ran past 8 and didn't notice until I got to 9, so I had to back track. A very fun outing, and good to see Fletcher, Gene, Jenny and Pete there, too.

Wish I was still in Laramie, though, for the weather. It had just dipped below 100 as we started. I rarely sweat profusely, but I did tonight. Should have recorded my weight afterwards :)

Laramie, day two. I was tired today, so my brain was having problems, especially in the beginning. Spent too much time wandering at 2, and did not take the safe route through the yellow from 7 to 8. Made the mistake of trying to run faster when a train of folks passed me around 9 and 10, and promptly made another mistake on 11. Ah well, it was good practice.

Nice event, great weather and Jenny won F21. Smooth travels through DIA and home to Lawrence. Nice to sleep in my own bed again.
