Time for a slow day, with lots of focus. I went to Kill Creek, and followed an old course. I walked the whole way. My goal was to stay on the line, as near as possible. I allowed myself to divert away from bad vegetation (on the way to 4) or silly route choices (crossing the stream several times on the way to 5).

Mostly OK, except for 2 to 3. I drifted down hill, and thought I crossed the trail at the bend (sure looked like a bend to me).

I deliberately did not go to 7 (the grass and woods were too gross) and wanted to avoid crossing Kill creek, so I tried to go opposite to 8 (missed slightly). Then headed in to the finish, because it was time.

My left heel was hurting; early signs of PF? I may have ramped up the woods work too quickly this year, and the ankles/feet/fascia are unhappy. I had planned a long week starting tomorrow, but I think I'll make it an easy week instead, and give my feet a break.

Orienteering at Perry Lake. Mike drew a course on his current map, which is essentially just contours and trails. The trail network makes this a fun area to to orienteer, and it was nice to be in the woods today. And my focus was much better than yesterday. Only one mistake, on the way to 11, and I figured it out pretty quickly. Got tired after one hour, and slowed down a bit. Cut the course short so I wouldn't be late to meet Mike. Forerunner battery ran out at 17. Bonus AOWN moment: saw my first bald eagle of the season.

stretch 1 [3]

Thanksgiving weekend: four days in the woods! I used to vet the Possum Trot course over Thanksgiving every year, but now I have to find some other way to keep myself occupied.

I decided to work on my focus today, so I set a line O course, and Mike and I went out to Rockcrusher. Al I can say is: fail.

I planned to walk and take it slow. But I never turned on my brain. On the way to 2, I was totally confused by the contours after I reached the trail. Then, when I finally figured that out, I some how thought that 2 was a depression, not a hill. Spent quite a long time figuring that out. So disappointed in myself. Then I had no sense of distance on the way to 3.

Started to get into the map a bit on the way to 4, but still slow and hesitant. The area around 4 is not field checked (which I did not know) and after 4, the woods are very dark green. Struggled with that for a while, but finally bailed out to the trail.

Had to quit after 6 (so I could meet Mike on time).

Nordic track 30:00 [2]

Normally I train outdoors every weekend at this time of year. But I wanted to sew, and I'm planning to spend 4 days in the woods over Thanksgiving, so I decide to just spend the day indoors today. Which meant the only training I did was a bit of Nordic track while watching the football game. Not much physically, but mentally, I needed a day like today.
