Note

Some more walking around London. But not as much as I planned. Luggage still has not arrived, despite several predicted arrival times. Which meant we stayed home too long, believing their false promises.

So 48+ hours in the same clothes, including shoes that are not the best for walking all day.

walk 20:00 [1]

orienteer 10:00 [2]

Lots of walking around London with my brother (only counting it as 20 minutes) and a few minutes on a permanent O course in Bishop's Park. I planned to run it as a real sprint. But since my luggage still hasn't arrived, I wasn't wearing the right shoes. Can I still say I have now orienteered in England?

sprint drills 10:00 [1]

weights 10:00 [2]

Missed my weekly workout with my trainer, so I tried to do some on my own. Just not the same, so I didn't do much.

But I'm glad I did something before my long travel day. Heading to London first, for a weekend visit with my brother and SIL. Then up to Scotland for work, for the whole week. I have some sprint O maps, so I'm hoping to add two new countries to my O list ( and one to my "countries visited" list)

Another try at two repeats of 8x100 (slightly slower than race pace). I did only 6X100 because I wanted to concentrate on my form. This was hard, because I was distracted by the fact that my HR monitor was all messed up; no way my HR stayed at 136 the whole time. But I tried to focus before starting each repeat and, think about form during the run (knees up, knees up!). Nice and pleasant at 30 degrees, with just a bit of snow left on the field.

Fresh snow, 10 degree temps and blowing winds meant that Kill Creek park was closed and PTOC had to cancel the local meet today. So Mike and I just had to change our location and go to Clinton instead.

It was beautiful out there. saw one other set of foot prints early, but the rest of the time, it was just me and the animals. I set a course for myself that stayed in the woods (the open fields would have been brutal today). Had to switch up the start location when we got to the park, due to road conditions. Not the hardest navigation challenge, but I did try to focus as best I could. Which meant reminding myself to "navigate" whenever I found my thoughts straying to other subjects. My route(edited) and a bit of slo-mo video. Note that the map is a work in progress.

erg 20:00 [2]

Nordic track 25:00 [2]

Thank god there was playoff football to keep me entertained during this workout.. Had to put in a long day today, because it's going to be hard to get in enough training later this week (traveling to the UK on Thursday).
