Went to Broken Arrow park to explore. Haven't been here is a very long time (map says 1998). I went over to the Haskell cross country trail which I had never seen before. Was surprised to see another runner out there. He was barefoot and there were lots of other barefoot tracks (in the sandy parts). Most of the trail is mowed grass, but the sandy sections look like they could be messy when wet.

First sprint. The school buildings on the north part of the map are completely different now, so this was a challenge to figure out where the control "should" have been (I failed). It was nice to run on a map that I didn't know well. I also felt good while running. Fun! route

Second sprint, another bit of confusion around the school (the reentrant is covered by a building now, and the tree is gone). Finished up and then drove around 31st Street a bit to check out the construction of the new South Lawrence Traffic way. The home to watch the end of the TDF time trial (If Phil says "podium" one more time, I'll scream. Too bad it's too early to play a drinking game :)) route
Rode after dinner, which was nice because it was shady with falling temps.I rode on my favorite section of the bike path, which has wooded sections. I understand, truly, why most folks (women?) feel safer on the parts of the bike path that are out in the open, along the main road. I can't stand those sections: so dreary and hot, so I avoid them.
Lots of arm work today, they feel like noodles now.
Added a map to my log to show where I have orienteered. Still need to get 13 more US states, which should be easier now with downloadable lidar and the ability to create campus sprint maps while sitting at home. Anyone want to join me at the University of Mississippi some time?

Hard to believe this is my first trail run of the season. I kept moving for 100 minutes, but I didn't keep to a set schedule of jogging and walking (as I used to do). Legs got tired, of course. It's going to be difficult to run for two days in Colorado next month.
Before I started today, I played around with the HR strap again.
Here is what I did:
1. cleaned the strap
2. put on some electrode gel
3. strapped it to my bare skin
Result: no signal
Other things I have tried:
1. different bras (underwire or not)
2. different positions (under bra, above bra, back)
3. static spray on shirt
4, spit or salt water on strap
5. wore it until I started to sweat
The only thing that gives a signal now is sweat. So, what is it about sweat that is missing from spit or electrode gel?
