Mike, Gene and I met at Rockhaven to run Santa's course (a short course with 5 mini-makers that Mike set up for winter training). My legs were tired from yesterday. I took some routes through the woods and up the hills, to give them some extra challenge. Gotta get ready for Georgia. Some bobbles, and I accidentally stopped my watch for a few minutes on the way to 4.

Nice lunch after, at El Portro. Too much food, as usual, but at least I c an have the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Mike and I are binge watching Bron/Broen. Does anyone know how it compares to the F/X version set in US/Mexico? Only problem with watching a foreign show is I can't multitask on the computer, since I have to look at the TV all the time, to read the subtitles.

Sandy and I had planned to do one of my long courses today. Mike joined us (Gene didn't show? or some confusion on arrangements?)
Nice warm day, upper 40s with almost no wind.
We each went separately and used a very basic map (trails and contours only). No markers or tapes.
I knew I was the slowest, so I cut the course short so they wouldn't have to wait for me.
I pushed the pace a bit, trying to stay ahead of Sandy for as long as possible. We saw each other around 3, 4 and 5, but split after that.
The woods were crappy but the trails were nice. I felt surprisingly good (considering I ate and drank way too much last night, then stayed up too late). Felt more confident and focused today; I can tell that my recent training has helped.

Continuing my tradition of orienteering on Christmas Day. Checked out some controls for the New Year's event.

Mike gave me a great gift: a personal O training camp! He'll set the courses, set out the tapes/markers and help with after-run analysis. Now I just have to decide where and when to go

Nice dinner and gift exchange with the family later, at Dad and Pam's house. Nice to see Silas and Summer.

Only had time for a short run today, so I did a control picking course on west campus. Goal was to move smoothly and quickly.

Note

Heart rate shot way up on the drive home tonight, due to a near miss at 70 mph. Thank goodness for good brakes and a millisecond warning of my spidey-sense that the idiot really was going to pull into my lane.

First time I've done a pure run in a long time. Mid 40s but overcast. I ran during the Chiefs game, so I didn't see another person the whole time. Did see a few turkeys in a field, though. This felt good while I was out there but my legs are tired now.
