orienteer race 19:10 [3] 2.0 km (9:35 / km) +29m 8:56 / km

Beautiful day for the PTOC sprint, and they had a great urn out today.
I was definitely a bit rusty in my decision making. Had to pause at almost every control, and had a few bobbles on route execution especially going to 4,5 and 14.

Mike and I stopped at Plutonic Pleasure on the way out of town. I picked a few locations to visit. I was tired and a little unmotivated, so not the best training. But it was a beautiful day, and just the right way to end a great weekend. Really enjoyed Mikell's courses and hospitality, and visiting with him, Kris and Annie. And Nelson, Cheryl, Graham, Doug, Brooke et al from RMOC

Day 3 at Remarkable Flats. I was leery about this event, since it wold be the longest course I had ever done. But I survived in good shape, and wasn't totally exhausted at the end. A few mistakes (4 was a bathroom break) at 2, 6 and 7, but pretty clean otherwise. I was really happy.

Mike, Mikell and I drove up to the Snowy range in the afternoon. I had never been there; it was beautiful

Day 2 of Laramie training camp, at Rattlesnake Hill. Chilly (11) but clear morning. I started in the mass start this time, which might have been a mistake. I started too fast and was thinking about others instead of my own training. Nearly missed 1, just saw it out of the corner of my eye; wandered around the wrong rocks on 2; totally misjudged 3 and had to back track to relocate, similar problem with relocation at 6. After that, I finally calmed down and did my own steady pace, and no more big mistakes. Vegetation at the end was not pleasant, it was worth trying to find a way around it.

orienteer 44:12 [1] 2.88 km (15:20 / km) +35m 14:27 / km

Mike and I went on to Pelican Bay to do some more training, It had warmed up to 18, but it was very windy. I decided to try a few controls in the open area, walking very slowly(not more rough vegetation for me, thank you very much) and checking off every feature on the line. I went to 1 first since I have difficulties staying focused on long legs. Then I turned around and headed to 10. I thought things looked a bit funny as I started back, but I didn't figure it out until I downloaded my track: I never made it to 1. Extremely embarrassing since I was trying to read every single thing on the map. Did much better on the rest of the controls.
