Note

Quiet evening, got my hair cut (and colored :) Then Chipotle for dinner in front of the TV (KU basketball game). Normally I wouldn't log such a day, but this morning, Mike and I wondered what we had done on previous Leap Years. So we checked our AP logs. And now I've added this year's entry, for posterity.

orienteer 50:58 [3] 3.17 km (16:03 / km) +87m 14:08 / km

Another spectacular day, 15, sunny and very windy. Decided to do a control picking course at Clinton. Crappy woods, with lots of thorns, so it made sense to walk and pay careful attention. I have difficulties reading stream bed contours, and sometimes my height in a reeentrant, so I tried to practice those today. Did fairly well (no markers or tapes were out)

aerobics 20:00 [2]

Did a bit of extra exercise when I got home, to make me feel less guilty when I sit and watch the Oscars and eat junk food tonight (it's a tradition, I have to do it :)

run/walk 5:00 [1]

Back for day 2 of the AMC Best Picture Showcase. Saw Brooklyn first, which I liked way more than I expected. Went outside between movies, for a bit of exercise in the beautiful weather. I passed two other woman who were also walking. Did not see anyone outside last week.

Second movie was Spotlight, which was excellent but sad to watch.

Third movie was The Martian (which I had already seen) while the fourth was the Revenent (which I didn't want to see). So I left the theater after the second movie.

orienteer 15:00 [1]

I went to pick up Mike at the KU Edwards campus, where he was teaching a class today. We did a map hike on his in-progress map of the campus. Nice day to be outside.

Then we went to REI, which Mike loves, but I find has limited (and expensive) options for women. So sometimes I don't even go inside. But this time I found 4 shirts to buy which were perfect for NZ.

Saw Georgann and Ron at REI, too. No surprise, since we had agreed to meet them for an early dinner at the Bristol (thanks to Ed and Pam for GC for Christmas). Had a wonderful meal to celebrate Mike and Georgann's birthdays.

orienteer 13:38 [3] 1.62 km (8:24 / km) +12m 8:07 / km

Mike ran a Fat Line O (FLO) course earlier, and I ran it tonight. I guess it is a "reverse corridor" in other people's logs. It was fun, except for the part that went through a building. Beautiful night, good to get outside after another crappy day at work.

This scan is pretty transparent; it wasn't that clear when viewed at scale (I cropped the map for display here)

sprint drills 10:00 [2] 1.02 km (9:47 / km)

After the O, I did a bit of speed work. This was fun, too. In fact, it was the best part of my day.

Better day at work today; tough arm work tonight.

Tough family day, as well. Finally made the arrangements for my dad's memorial service, which will be on March 19th. It was the best day for my 6 siblings, but we will have to cancel our trip to the US Champs. I'm bummed, on many fronts. Mike is handling it like a trooper.

Note

It's my "long" training week, so I had planned to do quite a bit of exercise tonight. But I had a really bad day, emotionally and physically. Dealing with my emotions, my crazy siblings, my crazy co-workers, my stressful job...
Ate three candy bars at work today!

Then I came home and laid on the bed for awhile, vented to Mike, and then went to sewing guild (which was a nice distraction)
