Wow, this was a close call. It was about 5:00. I had just entered my training from earlier in the day, and was preparing to make dinner. I needed a quick dinner, because I was planning to meet Sandy at 6:30 for a movie.

Something made me look at my training log for the week. Wait, did I orienteer this week?? No I had not! Mike kindly agreed to draw me some courses on his mini-map of Pioneer Cemetery, and I drove up there to run three short sprints.

Made it back with just enough time to cook, eat and meet Sandy. And I kept my streak alive!

cycle 40:00 [2]

Nice evening ride with Mike to Culvers for dinner (and back). Hot out there, but this was needed after a stressful few days at work.

aerobics 45:00 [3]

Time for my annual "unusual sport" class. This year, it is Pound!

It's just the latest aerobics fad, but it is fun. And tiring. And I'm happy to have a excuse to exercise indoors this summer.

run race 17 [5] 0.1 km (2:50 / km)

KC Corporate Challenge 100m
17.177 seconds
8th/60 F50

Temp was hot (30c) and there was a headwind. But I warmed up well and was excited to race. This year, for a change, I was in the second-to-the-last heat, instead of the last. I felt like the start was a bit rough, but I was obviously ahead of everyone else. About halfway, I noticed the woman in the lane to my right had caught up to me. This was fun, exciting and motivating. We were side-by-side for the rest of the race, and crossed the line in a photo finish. Good thing I was wearing my OK jersey, much more visible :) It was a fun and hard race.

I stayed around to wait for results, and to cheer on my co-workers in their races. I also ran into Pete Gogol (Madeline was competing). It was good to see him and catch up.

I was pleased with my time of 17.177, which is my fastest for this event. I placed 8th, which met my goal of top 10, and also earned me "medal points" (which goes down to 8th place). I was also first in division F, so altogether, I earned a lot of points for my company. It was not my highest placing in my age class; it's hard to predict who will show up. This year's F50 winner ran 15.154, wow!!!

My OK jersey came through for me: I won my heat! I was 17.177, second place was 17.194. This is the first time I won a 100 meter heat. Woo hoo!

cycle 50:00 [2] 13.19 km (3:47 / km) +32m 3:45 / km

Mike and I explored some new bike paths. Had to turn around near Broken Arrow because the creek had flooded the path. We did a loop today (mostly) which was nicer than my usual out and back.
