run/walk warm up/down 6:00 [1] 0.7 km (8:34 / km)

4 PM

run 40:18 intensity: (6:08 @3) + (34:10 @4) 5.0 km (8:04 / km) +104m 7:18 / km
ahr:140 max:156

First attempt at my 5k training loop. I didn't even try to walk up the hills, so this was lot slower than my first run last year. But it's also more than a month earlier than last year, so I have time to get into running shape.

orienteer 20:45 intensity: (2:17 @2) + (18:28 @3) 1.98 km (10:28 / km) +13m 10:09 / km
ahr:126 max:136

Then I did a bit of O practice in west campus. I used the 100-control course, going to every third control starting at 98 and going backwards (to 86 then skipped to 36 and down to start triangle). I thought that would add a bit of mental challenge in deciding where to go next. It was also good to train when I was tired from my 5k run.

run/walk 10:04 intensity: (1:27 @2) + (8:10 @3) + (27 @4) 0.89 km (11:16 / km) +10m 10:41 / km
ahr:128 max:153

elliptical 30:00 [2]

Back in Madison for my last (?) trip. Had a lovely dinner with D&B at Everly, where I ate too much. We ate pretty early due to Bethany's schedule, so I had time to exercise in the hotel gym after. Started with the bike while my stomach settled.

Mike and I went out to Rockcrusher. He was going to pick up the mini-markers he had put out earlier this month (for a"choose your own adventure" type event, download the map, go any time). I picked a course and was pleasantly surprised that the markers were all there (Mike decided to follow behind me).I deliberately took routes through the crappy woods to HTFU. I pushed the pace a bit in the beginning, but I soon gave up and trudged on through.
Beautiful warm sunny day, it was nice to be outside.
