PT 15:00 [1]

First visit with the physical therapist. I was hoping she would give me the go-ahead to start running, since I feel almost recovered. Nope. She wants me to hold off running while we work on strengthening my foot and calf muscles. It was humbling to see how little muscle control I had over my big toes (try lifting just big toe, not heel or other 4 toes). I couldn't move my big toe at all. Time to get to work.

Note

Possum Trot XXII, Shawnee Mission Park. About 35 at the start, warmed up to mid 40s when the sun came out. Another fun day hearing stories and helping with the event and talking with friends. I went to watch the start, as always. Mike moved first, as always.

Download and results went OK, in the end. I figured out I had to ask to see their map before download, and I could assign them to butterfly loop AB or BA. There was another problem with BA at first, but I finally figured out I had entered the loop controls in the wrong order. Winsplits was able to combine both loops into one course for results; but Attackpoint treated them as separate courses.

Loops/maps were assigned randomly, so a team could end up getting one of each. Two funny stories of couples who got different maps: one couple argued which way to go for 10 minutes before figuring out they had different maps. The other couple didn't see the difference, they accidentally split up, the wife navigating on her own for the first time. She was nervous, asked Sharon for help during the loop, but managed to do the rest of the course on her own and now feels empowered!

Putting out markers for today's PrePossum Sprints on the Univ of Kansas Daisy HIll map.
So much fun to see everyone, and to hear good reports of the courses.
Weather was a bit cold, but we had indoor registration, which was lovely and rare for a winter event.

cycle 30:00 [2]

Glad I got outside on this warm day. I was really frustrated and needed a break.

When Fritz told me there would be a butterfly loop on the Possum Trot, I checked the MeOS documentation, which had instructions. So I said we were good to go (this was few weeks ago, after the courses were set).

Today I spent 4 hours trying to get it to work and I'm still not there. A regular course with butterfly loops is fine. A regular course with one skip is fine. A rogaine (Explorer) course on it's own is fine. Combining the three is a nightmare.

Update: I figured out something that will work. And Mike had a good suggestion if we ever do this again, to use two computers/downloads to seperate the Explorer from PT.

aqua jog 45:00 [2]

It's swim season, so the HS team had taken over 90% of the pool, including the diving well. So I was stuck in the shallow end again. This time I figured out how to wear my belt lower so I could float higher in the water and jog without touching the bottom.
