Pickleball 1:15:00 [2]

Webster Park. Decent day, not too hot, not too windy, decent group of people playing.

Running 28:53 [2] 3.11 mi (9:17 / mi) +17ft 9:14 / mi
shoes: Hoka Mafate Speed

Three laps around the path at the Webster Rec Center, before playing pickleball.

Puzzled as to how AP calculates climb. This certainly wasn't a hilly course by any means, but there is a noticeable dip and then rise in the trail about halfway through the loop. According to the elevation trace, this amounted to 15-20 feet of climb, and I ran it three times. But AP says my total climb was 17 feet. Seems like it should be somewhere in the 50-60 foot range.

Pickleball 35:00 [2]

Attempted to play pickleball after running. First I had to sit around for about 15 minutes to stop sweating and catch my breath. Then I finally decided to play. I didn't play terrible but not great; kind of tough to tell due to the uneven competition and partner. But I wasn't having a lot of fun, so I called it quits after 2 games.

Running race 27:27 [4] 3.1 mi (8:51 / mi) +82ft 8:38 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 7

Javier Ortiz Memorial 5K. Associated with the Puerto Rican Festival, but no longer on the same weekend nor at the same location as the PR Fest. This started at Seneca Park. All on roads, no trails unfortunately. But nice course.

Trailsnail and I both were shocked to find we had each won our respective age groups! And it wasn't a tiny field like the St. Rita 10K a few weeks ago. HOWEVER, until I see the full results, I won't know how many were in our age groups. So it could well be that we both won because we were the only entrant!

Edit: Results available. Trailsnail WAS in fact the only person in her age group. But her time was good enough for 1st place in the 50-59 group (8 runners), and good enough for 3rd place in 40-49 (17 runners) and 2nd place in 30-39 (19 runners). And she would have WON the 20-29 group! (12 runners) So she beat a LOT of people!

There were 13 people in my age group, so I actually had to beat a few. Unlike trailsnail, though, I wouldn't have placed in the top 3 in any of the younger age groups.

Pickleball 1:05:00 [2]

Casey Park, indoors, rather warm despite the nice cool nights we've been having lately.

Pickleball 1:30:00 [2]

Rec center, indoors. Generally low intensity level of play but enjoyable.

Running 28:30 [3] 3.0 mi (9:30 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 7

HJ trail run with trailsnail. My GPS refused to acquire any signal so I was relying on trailsnail's report of our distance and pace. And I don't remember the pace exactly, either ...

Pickleball 1:00:00 [3]

Webster Rec, indoors.

Running 29:14 [3] 2.93 mi (9:58 / mi) +94ft 9:41 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 7

Mainly HJ trail, but I ventured into the Forest Lawn tract to add some hill (Forest Lawn isn't particularly hilly, although there is one bit of a hill, but it's lower than the HJ trail so coming back up to the trail gave me some climb), and also did a Vosbury Hollow trail near the end.

Webster Park.

Pickleball 35:00 [1]

Rec Center. Not enough players to make for a critical mass to be much fun, so I bailed out after 3 short games and decided to get a run in.
3 PM

Running 30:28 [2] 3.26 mi (9:21 / mi) +42ft 9:14 / mi
ahr:139 shoes: Hoka Mafate Speed

2nd run in 2 days, quite unusual. I decided to focus on doing a relatively slow pace and to run continuously for a bit more than I usually do. It seemed to work; I started out slower than usual, and didn't try to push the pace, but I wound up speeding up slightly as the run went on.

Pickleball 1:15:00 [2]

Casey Park. First pickleball played in more than a week. My game was fairly rusty, presumably because of lack of play lately.

Running 20:55 [2] 2.25 mi (9:18 / mi) +7ft 9:16 / mi

First run since the St. Rita's race. I've been a slacker this week.

Running race 58:35 [3] 6.22 mi (9:25 / mi) +86ft 9:18 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 7

St. Rita's 10K. I was woefully undertrained but I managed to keep a pretty even (although very slow) pace throughout the race. Ran the whole race pretty much stride for stride with trailsnail.
5 PM

Pickleball 1:00:00 [3]

Rec center, indoors.

Friday Jun 3, 2016 #

12 PM

Pickleball 45:00 [2]

Casey Park. Cut things short because I really should be resting for my highly ambitious 10K tomorrow.

Wednesday Jun 1, 2016 #

Casey Park, indoors.
10 AM

Running long 40:37 [2] 4.3 mi (9:27 / mi) +45ft 9:21 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 7

Went for a run from Casey Park after pickleball. A "long" run by today's lame standards. Last significant run before the 10K on Saturday.
