Walk/run race 50:48 [3] 5.02 mi (10:08 / mi) +83ft 9:58 / mi
shoes: Montrail Bajada III size 11.5

Feast of Burden 5-mile race, hosted by Medved, starting from the War Memorial. Out and back course to the U of R campus. I guess it's an accomplishment to get out and run at all on a rather frigid day (near-zero with the wind chill). Other than that, it was a pretty bad race for me. I had to walk a bit at the turn-around, and then roughly every half mile after that. Started running with trailsnail, until the turn-around, where she passed me and we never crossed paths again. She commented that it was the first time she's beaten me in a race! And not by a little, by about 1.5 minutes. I know I run worse in the cold than in more mild temperatures (say, 50-60), and being bundled up also doesn't help. Last year I averaged 9:10 per mile in this race, and this year, nearly a minute a mile slower. Can't blame that all on the weather!

Running 35:15 [3] 3.75 mi (9:23 / mi) +17ft 9:21 / mi
shoes: Montrail Bajada III size 11.5

With trailsnail. I was pushing the pace a little more than usual, but still going rather slow by any realistic standards. Last run before the Thanksgiving Day race (5-miler from the War Memorial).

Running (With Hanna) 35:47 [2] 3.71 mi (9:39 / mi) +1ft 9:38 / mi
shoes: Montrail Bajada III size 11.5

On roads. Snowing lightly, mid 30's, and NO WIND, so it was fairly pleasant. Made numerous stops off the clock for Hanna. She was really dogging it today for some reason.

Running (With Hanna) 29:47 [2] 3.04 mi (9:48 / mi) +21ft 9:44 / mi
shoes: Montrail Bajada III size 11.5

Short run with Hanna on plowed streets, mainly to and from DeWitt, then a couple of side streets off of DeWitt. Not that bad, actually.

Running 39:07 [3] 4.04 mi (9:41 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Conquest 2

With Hanna and trailsnail, on the Rt 104 path, mainly. A number of off-the-clock stops for Hanna, and one for the humans.

Walk/run (With Hanna) 30:50 [2] 3.13 mi (9:51 / mi) +25ft 9:47 / mi
shoes: Hoka Conquest 2

Rail-trail in Brighton that I've never run on, plus a few streets. Sunny, mid 30's, very windy. For the second run in a row, I just didn't feel like I had a whole lot of pep.

2 PM

Walk/run (With Hanna) 36:50 [2] 3.76 mi (9:48 / mi) +31ft 9:44 / mi
shoes: Montrail Bajada III size 11.5

HJ trail, North Ponds Park path, Rt 104 path, and some roads. For some reason I didn't have much energy today, so I ran shorter than I had intended.

4 PM

Running (With Hanna) 17:34 [3] 1.9 mi (9:15 / mi) +8ft 9:13 / mi
shoes: Montrail Bajada III size 11.5

Short, fairly fast (for me) run after work and before it got dark.

3 PM

Walk/run 49:52 [2] 5.01 mi (9:57 / mi) +16ft 9:55 / mi
shoes: Hoka Conquest 2

Run/walk, from Rec Center (after playing pickleball) home, mainly on the Rt 104 path. Sunny, upper 40s, not too windy, so decent weather compared to most recent days.

10 AM

Walk/run (With Hanna) 1:03:04 [2] 6.0 mi (10:30 / mi) +96ft 10:21 / mi
shoes: NB 410 v5

Finally a rain-free time when I had some free time and could get a long overdue run in. From North Ponds Park. One loop around the pond, then headed up towards the Rec Center for a loop around their path, then Phillips Rd to the 104 path, and back to North Ponds Park. Around 50, not too much wind, and NO RAIN!
