I'm not acclimated to seasonal late Dec. weather that's for sure -- I wore medium weight ski gloves which should really be OK for 26 degrees and only modest winds, but my finger were nearly frozen when I got back. Guess I'll need to go the mitten route the next time, even though I find it awkward to wrangle the dog leashes with mittens ...

Rec Center. Only 7 people, 4 of whom were brand new to the game (a family of 4, parents and two late-teen daughters). After playing some 3 person pickleball for a while, we asked if anyone from the other court wanted to join us, and the father agreed to. He was pretty decent for a first-time player; said he played tennis which I totally believe. After a game, we then asked the if anyone else from the family wanted to play, and one daughter wanted to. I wound up as her teammate -- she was also quite good. Tennis player, senior in high school, plays for the Webster Thomas tennis team.

From Casey Park, after pickleball. Ran down the trail along the long body of water, to Ontario Center Road, then discovered there was another, new, "trail" system on the west side of the road. I had planned on a road loop from that point, but decided to explore the trails. They were pretty dull, generally, just through a big open flat field, but there was a short dead end section along another linear body of water that was a little more interesting.

AP said 115 feet of climb which must be totally bogus, as it was basically flat with a few small ups and downs.

Trail-O. Amazingly, I was only charged with one error out of 18 controls. However, for one control (#7), any answer was accepted because it wasn't clear what the right answer was. I did think I got it right though, upon talking to a couple of others. The other, #11, I had the officially correct answer, although there was an informal protest by arthurd that none of the choices were correct (and she was indeed right about her protest). So really, I got that one wrong. Still, I was quite pleased and actually quite shocked that I did as well as I did.

My officially charged wrong answer was on #8. I see that arthurd chose the same answer that I did (C), so if a trail-O veteran like Stina picked that answer, I suspect there is a decent chance that C was really correct. In which case, I'm back to one definitely wrong answer (#11, even though it was officially correct).

WAY too crowded today at the Rec Center! I thought by coming a bit late, like around 3:30 after my run, I'd be getting there just at or after the peak time, and that it would start to thin out. It certainly seemed like peak when I did get there, 16 people waiting; I waited in line and eventually got to play 2 games (very good ones, thankfully, although I wasn't playing great). When I finished, I was hoping that the number of people sitting out would have dissipated a bit, but it hadn't -- so I decided to bag it rather than wait quite a while for 2 more games.
