I look at this meager workout as the start of training for an event in August 2007. My daughter, who now lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, has gotten into trail running, and she and I have tentative plans to enter the Pike's Peak Ascent (around 13.4 miles, 7000 feet of climb). My goal is to do some hill training throughout the winter, so that if we do decide to sign up for the event (which has to be done on March 1), I'll be in some semblance of shape for hill running coming out of the winter, and will then have about 5 months of serious training to get ready for the race. Today, I ran two times up and down the Glen Edith hill (from the corner of Bay and Ridge in Webster, down towards the bay), with a little more distance thrown in. From a contour map, it looks like the hill is about a 180 foot climb, and is about 0.4 miles long.
