Event: ROC - Score-O at Irondequoit Bay Park East (changed)

Saturday Jul 14

Walking 3:00:00 [1]3.5 mi (51:25 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana
Corn Hill Arts Festival; with Cheryl.

Friday Jul 13

Running 49:50 [3]6.0 mi (8:18 / mi) +40m 5:03 / km
max:145 shoes: Adidas Yukon Trail
Medium length, medium intensity run from work (at OCD).

Started near Ridgeway and Mt. Read, did a tour of the 'hood in NW Rochester. Ridgeway to near Marshall HS, south on some streets between Dewey and Lake, came out by Dewey and Driving Park, down to Lexington, to Mt. Read, and back to the start.

For the last 1.5 miles (approx) I was running at around 7:30 per mile and for some reason it felt quite easy. Must have been the pleasant weather.

Thursday Jul 12

Running long 1:43:48 [3]12.0 mi (8:38 / mi) +100m 5:14 / km
max:150 weight:173lbs shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR
Long run, from the Highland Park area, after getting off work at my part time job down there.

Rough route: South from Highland Park to the canal; canal to Genesee Valley Park, crossed river, went a little ways west on the canal path; back east, past tennis courts in park (where there were a lot of lessons going on, and some kids who looked halfway decent); path past U of R into downtown; short tour of downtown (Court to Exchange to Main); east on Main to East; East to Alexander, to Park, to Goodman, and back to Highland Park.

Real nice day; partly cloudy, 70 degrees, low humidity, slight breeze.

Tuesday Jul 10

Orienteering race (Sprint) 13:17 [4]** 1.46 mi (9:05 / mi)
max:155 weight:172.5lbs shoes: Asics Gel Kahana
Buffalo Orienteering Club meet at Chestnut Ridge park. Sprint course. Finished around 5th or 6th I think.

Distance is the distance covered, per Forerunner. Straight line distance was stated to be 2.0 km.

Orienteering race (Score-O) 55:18 [4]*** 3.6 mi (15:22 / mi) +80m 8:56 / km
weight:172.5lbs shoes: Asics Gel Kahana
Score-O at Chestnut Ridge. Did pretty badly. Made some strategic mistakes, and then the heat and hills got to me a little, which made my orienteering execution get even worse. Plus I was distracted by my (paper) punch card that fell off once (retrieved for me by Mike Lyons; thanks, Mike) and then continued to disintegrate into a wet blob with each successive control because I was carrying it in my pocket from that point on.

Distance is the distance covered as measured by Forerunner. Climb is a very rough estimate.

Sprint - Splits

Monday Jul 9

Running 39:28 [2]4.6 mi (8:34 / mi) +0m 5:20 / km
max:145 weight:173lbs shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR
Did a run on the canal, from OCD fitness center, right after I got out of a meeting at 11 am. Thought I'd beat the heat a little by going then, but there was plenty of heat to be had ... Fairly brutal day, I wound up walking nearly the last half mile on the way back, because the heat had gotten to me.
