Running 45:20 [2] 5.08 mi (8:55 / mi)
shoes: Nike Pegasus Trail

Despite the cold temps and moderately high winds, I decided to go out to Casey Park in Ontario for a run, to get more familiar with this small park which I was recruited to do a map of and have a simple orienteering course for a church outing next Sunday afternoon. The park is long and narrow, running east-west, with a nice but uninteresting (from an orienteering standpoint) trail running the length of it (approx 1 mile). I ran out and back on the trail, then decided I needed some more distance to really call this a workout, so I ran out of the park, north on Knickerbocker Rd to the first cross road, then straight west (pretty much right into the wind) to Ontario Center Rd. Then south to the western park entrance and back on that same trail to my car. I was dressed warmly enough, but going west on that road was pretty tough. Everything was warm enough except my face.

Running 39:53 [2] 4.27 mi (9:20 / mi)
weight:173lbs shoes: Nike Pegasus Trail

Short run in late afternoon on a very windy day. Did the Hojack Trail from Klem Rd northwest to Lake Rd and back. Since the wind was from the west, the trail wound up being reasonably sheltered, and the wind wasn't as big of a factor as I thought it would be.

Running long 2:15:00 [1] 14.12 mi (9:34 / mi) +787ft 9:05 / mi
weight:173.5lbs shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 10-07 - screw

Around the bay run. Anne and I had been wanting to do this for a while, and finally things aligned, with little snow to make for good footing, reasonable temps (around 30 degrees), little wind, and both of us had the afternoon free. We started at the Bayside restaurant/bar near the outlet, and did the loop counterclockwise. We stayed near the bay on the west side, which added some distance and two significant climbs, compared to taking Culver down to Empire. But it was more scenic and very little traffic. After the run, Cheryl met us at the Bayside and we enjoyed their Wed. night lasagna dinner, nice way to top off a long run.

Mapping 31:00 [0] 1.6 mi (19:22 / mi)
shoes: Nike Pegasus Trail

Our church is having a winter outing this Sunday at Casey Park, and I was asked if I could put together a real simple orienteering course. This was my first visit to the park, and very brief at that (nothing like waiting til the last minute). I'm hoping I can get most of what I need from aerial photos, but I wanted to get a little first-hand look at the park first.
