Orienteering 1:02:56 [3] ** 4.94 mi (12:44 / mi) +467ft 11:42 / mi
spiked:7/7c shoes: Montrail Mt Masochist Mar 2011

Ski-O at Mendon, although I did it using trail shoes rather than skis.

Not too exciting. Lots of time slogging through snowy trails, with two slightly more pleasant stretches of roads. The orienteering was totally trivial. Only a couple of real route choices, and in those cases, it wasn't that tough to figure out what was the best route. But a good workout. More ground than I've covered since the Jan. 1 road race, which is when I became aware of my irregular heartbeat issue.

Pickleball 30:00 [2]

Saturday morning pickleball. Good group of people, 11 in all, but I could tell that even with the "tennis elbow" strap on my forearm, my elbow wasn't real happy to be hitting the yellow wiffleball around. So I played two games and called it quits for the day. Fortunately, both games were quite good; Carole and I against Mike and Sandy. We won both games but by the narrowest of margins.

After that, I did actually play some more, but just hitting the ball around left handed (no games played). I found that I could pretty consistently hit forehands back over the net and into the court, but I had very little control over how deep or what side of the court the shot would land. My backhand was substantially worse -- I think I hit it over the net maybe 75% of the time, and with even less control than my forehand. My net play was actually halfway decent, better than I would have anticipated. My serve, sadly, was essentially non-existent. If I ever aspire to playing an actual game left-handed, I'll need to really work on my serve.

Running (Treadmill) 25:00 [1] 2.25 mi (11:07 / mi) +158ft 10:25 / mi
shoes: Saucony Progrid Guide 3

Treadmill workout at the Rec center.

Paddling 5:16 [1] 1.0 km (5:16 / km)

Rowing machine at the rec center. Had entered a 2000 m workout but quit after 1000 m because I sensed it might have been bothering my elbow. Figured I shouldn't overdo it until I found how it reacted to a short workout.

Running (Treadmill) 21:00 [1] 1.83 mi (11:30 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Progrid Hurricane 11

Very easy treadmill run at the Rec Center.

Pickleball 1:45:00 [2]

Pickleball at the Rec center.

Starting to develop a bit of tennis elbow. Just what I need -- a knee problem that keeps me from running much but doesn't bother pickleball, and tennis elbow which limits my pickleball but doesn't bother my running!
