Pickleball 1:35:00 [2]

Indoor pickleball at the Rec Center. Two courts, but unfortunately only 7 people at any one time. Good competition though.

We had: Me, Cheryl, trailsnail, Paul, Kay, Debbie (only lasted one game, then she re-pulled her calf muscle hustling for a good shot from Cheryl), Wayne, and Carole (arrived after Debbie had to quit).

Pickleball 1:20:00 [2]

Outdoors, at Webster Park. With Cheryl, trailsnail, Paul, Kay, and Debbie.

Got to see the fine Webster Schroeder XC team in action! (Well, doing a light workout in preparation for tomorrow's big meet.)

Laguna Niguel, from sister-in-law Kay's house. Mostly on trails (some very hilly ones, with great views). Very nice day, sunny, mid to upper 60's, so fine. With Cheryl.

Pickleball 1:30:00 [2]

Pickleball at Laguna Niguel, CA. Good group -- 8 courts total, and most of the time, all courts were full and there were 2-3 people waiting. Wide range of levels. I quickly met up with a guy a bit older than me who was roughly my ability, and we wound up teaming up for 4 games against 3 different other pairs, with all games being reasonably close (winning 3, losing 1) except fot our last game which was against 2 young ladies (30ish) who had some very nice shots but had a lot of misses also. We beat them 11-3 which I was very surprised at, given how skilled they appeared. After the game, we found out that today was their first time ever playing pickleball! The were quite good for their first time. I said, I'm sure you two play tennis though? And they confirmed that they did -- they certainly had a graceful, tennis player type game. They're going to be extremely good if they continue playing.

Anyway, lots of fun.

Walking 1:20:00 [1] 6.0 mi (13:20 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Venture 3

Walking at the San Diego animal park (now called Safari or something like that -- very nice!) and also in downtown San Diego, walking from nephew Anil's apt back and forth to a restaurant about a mile away.

Pickleball (attempt -- failed) 1 [3]

Attempted to play pickleball in Laguna Niguel, CA with Cheryl and Cheryl's sister. (Who has never played before.) We went to the only pickleball courts in the area; 8 brand new pickleball specific courts, very very nice! Unfortunately, the only gate to the courts was locked. There was a sign that they play Tu, Th,and Sa (Tu and Th from 9-11; Sa somewhat different and longer hours that I can't remember) -- and apparently no play is allowed at other times.

Walking (Ocean beach) 1:18:00 [1] 3.12 mi (25:00 / mi) +300ft 22:55 / mi
shoes: Saucony Cohesion

After failing at pickleball playing, we stopped at the town rec center to inquire as to whether there were any other pickleball courts -- I was pretty sure they weren't, but Cheryl wanted to inquire. Sure enough there weren't any.

So we latched onto a substitute activity which wasn't all that bad, going for a walk mainly along the beach. Temp was around 70, totally sunny, slightly cool breeze off of the 58 degree water. Very nice scenery. So fine!
