shoes: Asics Gel Venture 4

In my current state, there's no way I can take both dogs for a walk, but I offered to Cheryl that I could take Hanna on a semi long walk while she took Homer on a shorter one.

Walking (Dog walk) 30:00 [0] 1.38 mi (21:44 / mi) +77ft 20:39 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel Venture 4

Walk with Cheryl and the dogs on the HJ trail. Carried my GPS and started and stopped it but must have forgotten to save it, as no tracks were found from today.

Arm seems a little more swollen after the walk so maybe I'm not quite ready to get back into much walking.

Note

Appt with ortho surgeon to see how the healing is going. Conclusion -- not all that great. Bone in arm is developing a bit of a bend that it shouldn't have. It would continue to heal, but I'd have somewhat impaired range of motion, dexterity, and strength.

He said if I were 20 years younger, the recommendation would be easy --> operate. If I were 20 years older, it would also be easy --> don't operate.

He asked me what types of things I do that involve hands; I said I played electric bass, and I played a lot of pickleball and some tennis. He said based on that input, he would definitely recommend surgery.

An extra benefit is that I should be recovered quite a bit sooner, and definitely out of a cast (and using a splint) quite a bit sooner. So to me it seemed like an easy decision.

The operation is scheduled for this coming Wednesday.

Note

Two days after my very careless fall. My arm injury is feeling a little better today than yesterday, but my rib issue (not sure if they are bruised or cracked) is worse today than yesterday. Not sure what's going on with that; but I suppose I'd be more worried if the arm were feeling worse because that might indicate that the bones were slipping out of alignment which could necessitate an operation which I'd obviously like to avoid.

I was going to accompany Cheryl as she took the dogs for their final walk of the evening, but she observed how gingerly I was moving/walking and said "Are you sure it's a good idea for you to come along?" She had a good point; I re-considered and decided not to join her.
