Running race 56:55 [4] 6.23 mi (9:08 / mi) +122ft 8:58 / mi
shoes: Hoka Conquest

Race with Grace. Woefully undertrained, as I think I've run maybe 9 miles in the last month. Ran it with trailsnail. We were both pretty happy with how things went. We ran a reasonably constant pace (not totally constant, because there were some mild hills and fairly strong winds that caused the pace to vary from mile to mile), and didn't take any walking breaks.

I found myself almost right behind Delyn at the 6-mile mark, and was hoping to stay with him and finish right behind him, but he kicked it in more than I was able to, and finished maybe 20 yards and 10 places ahead of me.

The time I reported, 56:55, is from the start line to the finish line. My official time is about 25 seconds longer, as that's how long it took to get to the starting line.

The course is certified, and my GPS agreed almost exactly with each mile marker. But it said I covered 6.23 miles rather than 6.21 miles, which, if accurate, would say that the distance between the 6 mile marker and the finish line was off by 0.02 miles, in a distance of only 0.21 miles, which doesn't seem right. So I don't know whether I actually ran 6.21 miles or 6.23 miles -- not that it matters, except it does affect the average pace very slightly.

Note

Results are up. I finished 9th out of 21 in my age group; 537th out of 1121 overall. Tyler was 6 seconds and 13 places ahead of me! Lots of people finishing in that time frame.

Trailsnail finished 27 seconds after I did, and was 9th in her age group, out of of 35, not bad! Well into the top third of her age group.

Pickleball 3:00:00 [2]

Casey Park courts, with Cheryl, Debbie S., trailsnail, Michelle, and a number of others. Better quality / more fun games than usual for Casey Park, because of the presence of enough competent players.

Longer then usual dog walk, because it was a nippy day so it seemed like that should give the dogs more energy -- and in fact, they didn't seem all that tuckered at the end.

Pickleball 1:30:00 [3]

There was a bumper crop of players today; 16 waiting in line at one time, with 24 playing. Still, that meant more playing than waiting, and all of the games I got into were competitive and enjoyable.

Casey Park, 5 of us -- Cheryl, I, Debbie S., Michelle, and Zach (Michelle's daughter's b/f, who comes from a tennis and ping pong background so he's picking up pickleball quite fast, plus he's about 25 years old which also helps ...). Lots of decent, and generally evenly matched, games.
