Course setting 2:30:00 [3] 8.0 mi (18:45 / mi)
shoes: Salomon hiking boots

Setting out controls for Webster meet. Got all the controls out in time, but had a few issues/mishaps/forgotten things. Forgot to hand over to Laurie the S/F/Clear/Check boxes when I gave her the maps. Got a call from her 15 minutes before start time asking where they were. I knew right away they were in my trunk, and my car was parked at Whiting Road. At the time I was setting out the last control, but then I had a 10 minute walk back to the car, followed by some speed limit breaking to get to the meet location, only 5 minutes after 10:00. Also, minor things, I neglected to bring a compass (didn't need it, but I always like to have one), and a sturdy Wegman's bag to haul around flags and punch boxes. Didn't bring a map bag, but fortunately the map held up OK with no bag. Forgot to wear a GPS to track distance. Lost my Fitbit somewhere, probably not while out in the woods but more likely while shedding a layer near my car -- but couldn't find it. Got my wife mad at me because she tried the Orange course and wound up bagging it because she thought it was too long and too hard and too muddy and had too many controls. So now I'm in trouble on the home front. :)

Walking (Dog walk) 50:00 [1] 2.5 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 7

Walk with the dogs over the Finn Park, for a dip in the creek, and back.
8 PM

Pickleball 50:00 [2]

Rec Center. After hours party. Good crowd, good food and drinks, but I played terribly and didn't have much fun on the court, so I wasn't inspired to play until the bitter end.

Actually, course setting / mapping. For the Webster meet this Saturday. I focused exclusively on the seldom-used area east of Holt Rd (since that's where we'll be starting this meet from). It's small, but a nice area, in fact I think it's the nicest area orienteering-wise in Webster Park. It's only had one iteration of mapping, and that was 5 years ago, so some improvements were needed, as well as some updates. (Some indistinct trails were promoted to small trails, while other indistinct trails were demoted to "not a trail"; etc.) Streamered control points in that part of the park, and adjusted the location of three of them.
12 PM

Walking (Dog walk) 54:00 [1] 2.65 mi (20:23 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Kahana 7

Mainly Rt 104 path, past Maple, about halfway to Gravel, then back.

Pickleball 45:00 [2]

One decent game (Michelle and I vs Diane and Debbie S), then a not so fun game (Michelle on one side, me on the other, both of us with less competent teammates), then a very good one to finish with (John (husband of Kim) and I, vs Paul S. and Mike Bolton. John and I won in a very competitive game. Then I watched a little bit of the 8 pm court 1 ladder league action.
2 PM

Walking (Dog walk) 50:38 [1] 2.26 mi (22:24 / mi) +2ft 22:23 / mi

Walk in Webster Park with Hanna, checking out some map updates.
