Cell-phone-O at Mendon. With trailsnail as partner.
Two score-O courses, 10 controls each, in different parts of the map. Trailsnail did the "B" course first while I guided her via cell phone. (She had no map, I did, back at the lodge.) Got all 10 controls but took something like 37 minutes. There was a somewhat soft time limit of an hour for both courses. So then I did course A with no map, while she guided me on cell phone. Course A was longer, mainly because no controls were all that close to the lodge. Got 8 out of 10 controls. Didn't have any major navigation problems with either course, somewhat surprisingly. On course A, she made the decision not to go for #1 and #7 since it was obvious we were going to be over an hour even w/o doing those. Finished in just under 70 minutes, with 55 points out of the maximum of 60. It was actually easier (and more fun) than I had expected. I can see it being a real disaster, though, if contact with the map is ever lost.
