Running ("Long") 1:03:30 [2] 6.26 mi (10:09 / mi) +100ft 10:00 / mi
shoes: NB 410 v5

Recently I've felt pretty comfortable running at, say, 9:30 per mile for a while -- no strain at all. The problem is that after about 2 miles, what felt very easy at the beginning has gotten to near-impossible. Running much slower, say 10:15/mile or slower, just isn't comfortable for me. So I decided to extend my distance by taking a 1-minute walking break after each mile.

HJ trail; started at Klem Rd, ran SE at first, the finished with one mile out and one mile back going NW. Low to mid 80's, but amazingly comfortable due to low humidity. Most of the route (maybe 80%) was in the shade which obviously helped, but even the sunny spots didn't seem too bad.

Running race 1:02:04 [4] 6.2 mi (10:01 / mi) +574ft 9:12 / mi
shoes: Hoka Conquest 2

Irondequoit 10K. Very undertrained for this distance. I used to be able to get away with entering a race (and doing OK although not great) like this on sub-optimum training, but with my advanced age, I'm not able to do that any longer. First three miles mostly downhill, and went OK. Last half of the course was mainly uphill and I struggled. Took multiple walking breaks. Ran with trailsnail pretty much the entire way.

Avg pace for the first 5K was 9:24; for the second 5K, 10:36.

Finished 4th out of 6 in my age group. I was the oldest one in my age group. And the next age group (and only group older than mine) had only 2 entrants, both of whom I beat. So my dubious claim to fame is that nobody older than me beat me.

157th out of 235 overall.

Running 25:21 [3] 2.71 mi (9:22 / mi) +60ft 9:11 / mi
shoes: NB 410 v5

Evening run. Thermometer said mid to upper 80's but with the sun mostly down and a bit of a breeze, it actually didn't feel too bad. Last run before the July 4 10K.
