| Snowshoeing 2:33:00 [4] | ||
| Don't quite remember our exact time, so this will be posted when the results are out.
An awesome day out in the sunshine up at Horseshoe! The race was very well organized, and the course was put together very well. Leanimal and I planned out a couple of different options for the rogaine, with bail-outs at a couple of different spots. We went counterclockwise around the southern part of the map, and was the first team at at least one CP and so were breaking our own trail for a while (and breaking trail for the all-male team behind us - hmphf!) Unfortunately we decided to skip one stupid checkpoint because we were unsure about whether we'd have enough time to complete the north side of the map before our 3 hours was up. Well, considering that we finished with about 30min to spare we didn't really need to skip CP4 (which was only about 150m away when we made that idiotic fateful decision). Ho hum. Anyway, it cost us a glorious 6th place finish instead of 7th, and a loss to two competitive orienteers that it would have felt nice to beat. Next time! Thanks a bunch to Leanimal who was an abosulte gem with the maps! And a special thanks to MIllhouse and Bash and Dee and GHO who put on a great event. Oh, and thanks for the boys up front who trampled down the horseshoe woods super-highway ahead of us in the second part of our course! :)

| Running 35:00 [2] | ||
| Around Bolton for a pre-race leg-loosener with Leanimal. Hammies were still a little sore, but I was hoping that after a good stretch they would be in top shape for Saturday's race! | ||

| Well, another day of extraneous fatigue. What is going on with me. School is pretty busy, so maybe all that brainpower is draining my energy? Anyway, I was going to go out for an easy run tonight, but my hamstrings are still quite sore from Tuesday night's TNT session (I'm soft) and I even have a wee bit of a nag in my right peroneals. Time for some ice. I'm telling myself that this is just my body saving up some reserves for Saturday's slaughter fest. Bring it on. | ||
Wednesday Feb 20 | ||
| Note | ||
| Soooo....have every intention of being able to log a very cool and hard pool workout tonight. Unfortunately Bob and I didn't really think about the fact that it's reading week for everyone else at Mac except for us and the gym was closed when we got there. Ho hum. So we sat in the warm car and watched the lunar eclipse instead. | ||
Tuesday Feb 19 | ||
| Running intervals 40:00 [4] | ||
| 10 X an ~ 3min loop with one minute rests in between. Really felt the hills tonight!! | ||
| Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] | ||
Sunday Feb 17 | ||
| Snowshoeing 3:00:00 [2] | ||
| Wanakita snowshoe trek with the Leanimal, Phatty, Eugene and Koona. Nice day to be out in the rain. Man there's a lot of snow in the woods! Tried to do the occasional quick sprint to work the legs in a bit and got quickly winded. The snow was heavy with moisture. Phatty did most of the trail blazing out front, and when I decided to scoot ahead I had a newfound respect for all the effort he'd put in! It was hard work! | ||
Saturday Feb 16 | ||
| XC Skiing (Classic) 40:00 [2] | ||
| Out on the wanakita trails which were in very good shape. Cruised along the twisty trails while eugene and koona attempted to skijor. Koona seems a little more interested in sniffing here there and everywhere than running in a straight line! | ||

| Still sniffly so staying in!! But did walk 30min home from school for some fresh air. | ||

| A wee bit of a sniffle today so I skipped TNT to stay indoors and work on my paper. Booooooring. But hopefully the fresh garlic clove and extra Vit C tablet that I munched will kick in and I'll be as good as gold in no time! | ||

First Canadian Ski Marathon experience ever, and definitely not my last! Leanimal and I, joined by Dr.P, skied the middle 3 sections of Saturday CSM today. The temperature and the snow was perfect. Our wax was gripping when we wanted it to, and allowing us to cruise down the hills. We saw tons of other folks out there and it seems that everyone is out there to have a great time and they were all so friendly and had super attitudes.

Tuesday Feb 5 | ||
| Running 40:00 [2] | ||
| Out for a quiet night of TNT with Bob and Tommy Hillflyer. The trails and the golf course were a disgusting mess of freezing slush and water so we opted for a run around the neighbourhoods instead. Nice easy night to stretch out the legs in prep for CSM! | ||
Monday Feb 4 | ||
| Swimming 35:00 [3] | ||
| Headed out to the pool for the 10pm lane swim with Bob. I think the last time I donned my full piece and bathing cap was honestly about 2 years ago, so I was kinda nervous! Bob was a great coach and had a little workout planned so I was really happy about that. Does everyone know that she used to be a superstar synchro swimmer? We should probably get her to wear her nose plug to TNT occasionally. I would think that added oxygen deprivation must be good for additional training..
So, we did some front crawl and some kickboard work (which was really hard and tiring!) and then we did some legths with the foamy thing between the thighs so you can just use your arms. Discovered most of my unbeleiveable swimming speed comes from my upper body. Who would have thought it? Maybe I have coach hansel to thank for that after countless hours of dragon boating... Anyway, I finished off the session with a stretch in the sauna where I discovered a disconcerting rash developing on my inner thigh exactly where I was holding the foam thing between my legs. Yeeeesh! I made sure that I scrubbed it thoroughly and it seems to have calmed down. Gross.

Saturday Feb 2 | ||
| Running long 2:10:00 [2] | ||
| Fun in the deep snowy trails with Sudden, Bob, and NKOTB. Definitely some of the hills felt more like 3s, but generally the pace was very comfortable. | ||
Friday Feb 1 | ||
| Snowshoeing 40:00 [3] | ||
| Winter Ralley loop minus the lawry hill. Hard work in today's snow! I had to walk a little bit because I was in the mood to take it a little easy. | ||
| Snowshoeing (Walking) 1:00:00 [1] | ||
| Walking from home to chedoke and back. I wouldn't normally count something like this but I actually broke a sweat, so I figured it was game. | ||
