Trekking 2:00:00 [1]
Hansel will call me soft for entering this, but we went out for a trek near Milton. Walked quickly and I carried a pack while hansel strolled topless. Goal was to get heart rate up and to sweat so figure that it counts. :)

Running 55:00 [3]
Bob and I planned on doing a nice hour-or-so long trail run around Cootes this afternoon before we had to head back to meet our student group. The day was grey and not super-warm but judging from yesterday's temps I figured I'd be good with my thin long-sleeved T and some thin tights. We set off, with a very vague idea of where we were going. Turned right onto "the trail" which was very cool and narrow with swamp grasses that were taller than our heads corn-maze style, but, oops this was a dead-end. Oh, and it started to rain gently. Okay, back out and down behind some soccer fields - oh, there's the trail! We ran along the windy muddy trails that looped and turned and slid all around. Came to some intersections, uh, turn right? Continued along and trails looped in all directions. Maybe we should have turned left? Ended up coming back out to the soccer fields so we decided to head back out to the road and try to find this "very obvious" trailhead. Oh, and then the rain started coming down in sheets. Did I mention that it was 6 degrees? Still pouring, and we headed down and up the paved road looking for the trailhead before turning back to school. The feeling of being slightly turned around, feet wet and muddy, soaked to the bone, and freezing cold bought back familiar memories of times I've held dear to my heart. Bring on PR! :)
Here is an approximation of our route.

Running (Trails) 2:16:00 [3]
Good run with a light pack from parking lot just south of the DV Trail centre, counterclockwise on Main Loop to Heritage. Followed Heritage into Ancaster and then along Wilson and down Sulpher Springs road to the Headwaters trail. Headed out on Headwaters and around the loop and back to the Main Loop to run clockwise back to the car. Was really out for about 2:36 but subtracted some time for getting semi-lost in Ancaster, and the occasional stop to look at the trail maps. Felt strong throughout.

Thursday Apr 19

Running 1:20:00 [3]
slept:5.5
Running with Bob, TVP and zoolander on the Chedoke Iroquis Trail plus the "warmup" from school in which i actually kinda ended up sprinting to meet Bob in time because I was distracted by watching my first ebay purchase come to term. Good news! Got one of my required textbooks for the low low price of $23.50CDN. Bazzing!!

The run relt like crap (oxygen problems for me too? or just the Hamilton smog? or perhaps my sprint warmup? or most probably the fact that I've lost significant sleep this first week back at school?) and so was stuck behind zoo and had to stare at his butt end the whole time.

Must get baaaack to my minimum 8hrs....baaa baaa. I'll count some sheep tonight

Tuesday Apr 17

Running warm up/down 35:00 [2]
Up to Chedoke with Bob and pre-intervals with the boyz.
Running intervals 35:00 [4]
The return of TNT with Bob, Sudden and TVP. 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1 Intervals around the Chedoke trails. Ouch. Have never done fast intervals on technical trails like that. It was super fun to be leaping around on the dry trails with no jacket or toque. Finally feels like spring! Although, I did Feel a litte bonk-ey once we got to the first 4min interval. I guess 'cause it's been a while since I ran with the group. I'll sleep well tonight!

Monday Apr 16

Paddling (Dragon Boat) 1:00:00 [3]
First practice out on the water! Felt great despite the fact that I couldn't feel my left hand after 5min of exposing it to the freezing cold lake.

Sunday Apr 15

Orienteering 1:24:00 [3]***
Ottawa Orienteering Club @ Kanata Lakes. 2 degrees, raining, windy. :)
Course was set by Rorry Harding and he did a very good job of combining some technical flags with good runs through the woods and minimal useage of trails. Got wet up to the knees in a swamp right off the bat from CP1 to CP2 which was probably a blessing in disguise considering there was water everywhere!! Lots of swampy bits not on the maps that managed to throw lots of people off. Good times.

Saturday Apr 14

Running 55:00 [3]
Run around the canal and Hull today with Sco Fo and Susan...and I managed to keep up AND smile at the same time! :)

Trekking 20:30:00 [2]
Ditto Leanimal.

Beautiful sun rise
Why can't you bring me bacon?
Let's trek forever!

Personal favorite moments:
a) MUFFIN TIME #2
b) MUFFIN TIME #3
c) Feeling the morning sun touch my face. Ah!
d) Realizing that there was a bridge over the river and that we wouldn't have to swim
e) Learning that racoons can actually swim
f) "I love bacon! Tsh Tsh Tsh bad um bm!"
g) Sinking my teeth into a warm burrito
h) T-dot: "Okay Nicki, can you light the stove? Just pump the little thingy and then turn the knob and light it - thanks." T-dot had no idea how to do this herself and we were all VERY braindead.
i) Imagining the impending doom as strange animal noises started surrounding our camp. Primal screams and gutteral growls. Thank goodness for the Ligers and the magical skills they were bred for. Otherwise our story my have ended differently....
C • Top of the list! 8

Saturday Apr 7

Event: Giant's Rib Raid

Trekking 8:30:00 [2]
Ditto Leanimal.

Cold night falls heavy
Can it be that much further?
Naive souls push on

Personal favorite moments from that fist part of the trek:
a) The first MUFFIN TIME break 7 hours into the trek (muffins were rationed at 7hr intervals and sooooo delllliciouuuus!)
b) Sitting on a cold rock shivering uncontrollably, perhaps nibbling on a luna bar with my camelback hose stuffed up my shirt against my warm skin and thinking: "Wow! We're not really very smart are we?!!!" ha aha ha haaa!
c) The amazing stars - Wow!

Tuesday Apr 3

Note
Uh, tapering day for the big Dirty Divas weekend. A.k.a Liza was feeling lazy and there was about 5 inches of new snow out there and my heart rate was high enough just driving home from work on the very windy and snowy highway. Oh, and they don't seem to plow the roads in this town. Bizzare

Sunday Apr 1

Strength 20:00 [3]
Home stuff: situps and push ups.
Imps fitness test on April 9th!! Yikes! I knees are knocking at the thought of feeling the wrath of my coach....
Running 20:00 [1]
Meant to run for longer, but I got to some soggy trails and decided I could walk along them much more easily than I could run without getting my feet too wet. Then I re-discovered the pleasure of simply WALKING. Ah, walking.....
