Nice low intensity run with Bob to test our our various musculoskeletal problems. We were both encouraged by our lack of pain and our run was pleasantly longer than expected. The ankle felt pretty good, but I've decided to skip out on this weekend's Run for the Toad even though I've sooooo been looking forward to it. :( But, if I don't want to have a chronically crappy ankle for the rest of my days, I should probably let it fully heal. So if there's anyone out there who feels like doing a really fun 25km trail race complete with a great post-race party and full chicken dinner - let me know!!! You can be me!!!

Ankle is still swollen since Saturday's tumble. At first glance one would assume that I have no lateral malleolus, but it is simply hidden under a taught layer of fluid-filled tissue. I now know what my ankles will look like when I'm 80. I love the feel of how it jiggles when I walk down the stairs.

5 Peaks Trail Race. Beautiful day for a trail race and good times with some good peeps up at Horeshoe Valley. Leanimal and I were two of eight whole women who entered the 15.6km race and we walked away with 66% of the podium! We had really good strategy too.... To ensure the best possible Bobkitten finish we decided to exploit our strengths. So that nobody was suspecting our sabotage plan, I started in the second wave of of runners and Lee in the third. Between the 2nd and 3rd km markers I lead the front pack of female runners the wrong way and tried to "act confused" as we ended up out at a road in a neighbourhood. Heh heh. Leanimal, starting behind us, timed things perfectly by also missing the turn-off (she seemed soooo inocent and pretended to not have seen the turn either so that the other girls wouldn't clue in) but she timed it perfectly so that she only had to run about an extra 100m out of her way before she acted surprised when she saw us coming back from the road. So this way Lee was able to have started the race in the third wave (3min behind us) and at the three km mark already have caught up to all the front girls who I successfully tired out with my wild goose chase while I was "looking" for the trail. The rest of the race was pretty uneventful except for the fact that Leanimal and I seriously kicked butt and I turned my ankle. All in a day's work! Kudos to Phatty and Hansel who did really good too. Hansel had a unique strategy for keeping away the rest of the competitive field - let's see if he mentions anything in his log about screwdrivers...

No, I haven't logged much this week. I'm making a special note to acknowledge my return to school and the crazy hectic nuttiness that is getting though the next 8-weeks of my life until this academic semester is over! So, I'm not falling off the wagon, I'm just driving only fast enough so that the wheels don't rust and freeze up on me. Now, back to the library...
