Strength 1:00:00 [3]
Good intense blasting session today at lunch. Worked on the shoulders some more until they were completely fatigued. May not be able to raise my arms above my head tomorrow!

Lots of stupid scapular stabilization exerceses plus bench jumps, stair push-ups, punch backrows, mountain climbers, plank rows, bosu squat twists, starfish, surrenders, stability ball pull-downs, bicycle plank, hamstring curls.

Running 55:00 [4]
Didn't feel like ending my day of running after the Thomass so I went home and dropped off my lovely new jade plant and then headed out to the Dundas Valley. Legs didn't feel quite as springy as they did this morning. Maybe there was more residual lactic build-up then I imagined! So, this run hurt a little but it was a beautiful day so it was worth the suffering!
Orienteering race (Thomass) 50:00 [3]***
Thomass Kick-off at Starky Hills in Guelph. Great fun on a fast course and Leanimal and I felt up to the challenge to try to measure up to the Male Elites and not take our handicap. A wee bit of snow on the ground made things interesting and it was cool enough that I had to losen off the thumb compass 'cause at one point I realized that I was losing circulation! I lost some time at CP 11 looking for the right pile of rocks, but luckily Bash was there with me so I didn't feel completely lost. I dropped the ball at CP 13 when I was running along just behind Bash and I I thought I'd be sneaky and try to drop her and so I snuck around a different way. Unfortunately I should have jigged instead of jagged because I got a bit turned around and she ended up losing me! Otherwise I felt pretty good today but still didn't quite manage to eek out Leanimal for bobkitten domination. I'm just trying to apease her before I turn it around with a CRUSHING win at the next race.... ;)

Monday Nov 19

Running 42:00 [4]
Hilly lunchtime run in the cool wind. Felt good to get out, but better coming down the escarpment then when I ran up.

Sunday Nov 18

Running 40:00 [2]
Nice run from Bash and 'Bent's place with Leanimal, Sotsu and Jamigal. Beautiful day out there!

Oh yeah, and then we ate more brownies.

Saturday Nov 17

Orienteering 1:31:00 [3]***
Amazing course put on by Bash and the rest of the Tree Huggers!

Certainly wasn't my best performace behind the compass, but lots of fun nonetheless! Leanimal kicked my butt after another stellar performance on her end.

I celebrated my second place finish by gorging myself with pizza, crash brownies, brie, cookies, and more pizza for the rest of the weekend. May have to log some extra hours this week...

Thursday Nov 15

Strength 35:00 [3]
Sweet shoulder blade blasting session. Nothin' like tiny little circles with 5lb weights to combat the evils of a winging scapula!!

Wednesday Nov 14

MTB (Trails and roads) 1:14:00 [4]
Good hard ride as I went a little too far and was pressed for time to get back home so had to hammer! Beautiful day out there.

Sunday Nov 11

Event: Raid the Hammer

Orienteering race 4:16:07 [3]***
Awesome day racing with Leanimal and Phatty on team Salomon XT Wings out in Waterdown for the Raid the Hammer. Lots of teams were out there on the start line and chaos was unleashed at the starting gun as we tried to keep up with Sudden the pace bunny up to the first trail leading to CP1. What a great way to warm up slowly!! The course was well done with two matrices on the regular course, and a special E=mc2(squared) section on the advanced with three runs (one mud, two climbs) where each team member had to do at least two controls. The matrices definitely had their easier and harder controls and many teams found it challenging to try to spread out nav talent and running ability so that everyone would end up back at the rendezvous at the same time. The advanced map also had one of those "blank" sections where all we had on our map was the contours with no extra trails, vegetation descriptions, or water features. We got a little turned around here with a couple of other teams, but hey, we were just getting more time out in the woods for our money, right? The rest of the race went fairly well. A few creek crossings and slippery muddy slopes to get us nice and dirty and to keep things interesting. Phatty had a nice tumbling bail down one hill that reminded me a little of that scene from the Princess Bride. Oh, and at one point I got my hair stuck in a thistly vine thing and was virtually immobilized. We spent a good portion of the race going back and forth with The Tragically Quick. The Tree Huggers were also making frequent appearances throughout our day. Unfortunately, we never saw Superwes and Bender's team out there at all since they smoked the course and came in as the top coed team! Congrats to everyone out there today and thanks to Sudden, Hammer, and all the other folks at GHO for putting on another fun event! Now I need to start training on my snowshoes....

Thursday Nov 8

Running 40:00 [5]8.9 km (4:30 / km)
Nice hilly run around the Beamsville vinyards.

Sunday Nov 4

Running 1:25:00 [3]
Good run on the trails WEST of Chedoke. Ran along Iroquois and any little side trail I could find. I zoomed up any hill I came across and the running felt good in the crisp air. Felt quick and easy. It's pretty much time for gloves though since my hands ached from the cold for most of the run! I even tried the windmill technique but to no avail.

Made sure I did a good stretch when I got home too.

Saturday Nov 3

MTB (Road) 1:00:00 [3]
slept:6.5
Attempted to ride from the Hammer out to Devil's Punchbowl in Stoney Creek. I was at a course all day at school, and I knew that it was a race against time to get out there and get some of it done before dark, but I figured today was the day since tomorrow it will be dark one hour earlier. So I checked the map before I left my place and it looked like I could ride the Bruce Trail the whole way out minus a minor interruption where I'd have to be on the Trans-Canada for a bit. To make a long story short, the Bruce Trail through Hamilton sucks once you get beyond Chedoke. I ended up riding along sketchy paths right beside the highway and crossing under highway overpasses and riding under bridges where there were remnants of parties and scariness. Certainly not a nice place for a girl to be at sundown!! So, I didn't make it to the falls because the trail sort of tapered out near a dark and scary park and I decided to just get the heck out of there since the only piece of weaponry that I may have had to ward off the weirdos might have been an acupuncture needle left over from today's class. I'll have to wait to get out to those falls during daylight hours......

Running 45:00 [3]
Ran to school and back. This was actually two runs but i'm too lazy to break it into two separate entries.
