Event: 5 Peaks

Running 1:21:00 [4]15.6 km (5:12 / km)
5 Peaks Trail Race. Beautiful day for a trail race and good times with some good peeps up at Horeshoe Valley. Leanimal and I were two of eight whole women who entered the 15.6km race and we walked away with 66% of the podium! We had really good strategy too.... To ensure the best possible Bobkitten finish we decided to exploit our strengths. So that nobody was suspecting our sabotage plan, I started in the second wave of of runners and Lee in the third. Between the 2nd and 3rd km markers I lead the front pack of female runners the wrong way and tried to "act confused" as we ended up out at a road in a neighbourhood. Heh heh. Leanimal, starting behind us, timed things perfectly by also missing the turn-off (she seemed soooo inocent and pretended to not have seen the turn either so that the other girls wouldn't clue in) but she timed it perfectly so that she only had to run about an extra 100m out of her way before she acted surprised when she saw us coming back from the road. So this way Lee was able to have started the race in the third wave (3min behind us) and at the three km mark already have caught up to all the front girls who I successfully tired out with my wild goose chase while I was "looking" for the trail. The rest of the race was pretty uneventful except for the fact that Leanimal and I seriously kicked butt and I turned my ankle. All in a day's work! Kudos to Phatty and Hansel who did really good too. Hansel had a unique strategy for keeping away the rest of the competitive field - let's see if he mentions anything in his log about screwdrivers...

Running 1:45:00 [3]
From school along rail trail down Monarch Trail and around Main Loop and back. Not sure what that distance is. Anyone? Felt good and it was cool to see the early morning misty light streaming through the trees.

Monday Sep 17

Running 55:00 [3]
Run felt better than expected. Legs were good and lose and my breathing felt awesome. Maybe it's the crisp fall air?
