Paddle 3:28:00 [4]30 km (6:56 / km)
First leg of YAC. Beautiful paddle down Bennet Lake, lined with mountains. Started at Carcross, and paddled west to end of the west arm. First time in a canoe with kayak paddles in awhile. Reminded me of how much I hate it.
C • Nice! 9
Running 8:40:00 [4]
Leg #2. Trek/ropes. Left Bennet Lake on foot up to a zip line that went across a raging creek. All the water levels were high due to the huge snows they had this winter. Continued on foot up and over one of the mountain ranges, and then slid on our feet/asses down the other side. Once we got a little bit lower, the snow got softer and we ended up post-holing for a couple of hours in to CP5. After that dropped down through a couple of stunning valleys into CP6/TA1.
Ride 11:20:00 [4]
Bike leg. Legs were a little wobbly at first, but after a few kms of mostly downhill dirt road, felt much better. Most of the leg was on 4x4 trails with tonnes of mud, a big long uphill, followed by a huge downhill down to the Yukon River in McRae.
Paddle 1:24:00 [3]
Final Leg: paddle/portage. From McRae down the Yukon River and back into Whitehorse.

This was a great race and a beautiful course. The terrain around Whitehorse makes it pretty hard not to have stunning scenery, but the race was put together very well too. Definitely worth the trip up to the Yukon.
