us relay champs
osbornedale sp, derby ct
8 pt team - charlie, pavlina, john g, me
charlie came in about 3rd, pavlina moved up to second, john crushed everyone on the third leg and I held off samantha to win.
hills forced me to walk, but was able to run most of the course. half expected samantha or sergey to catch me,but what little advantage I had from making the map might have made the difference.

ran w/ ipod today. not sure I like listening to music instead of nature's own melodies. I also don't like the feeling that I can't hear someone call me or if there is a dog barking or chasing me.
music was good though and I found it did not affect my ability to focus on the navigation. I wonder if they are allowed during an O event?

westmoreland HVO country
very hot/humid, course overly steep for the conditions. legs OK after ride, but was overheating and sweating profusely. by cp10 I could not run anymore and had to walk. had to walk anyway on the way uphill to 11, but I took a break half way there. joe M walked a jug of water back down the hill to me. super great for him to do that. at cp11 I rested for 10 min. and then continued to finish the course with quite a bit more climb in the last few K.
bike (road) 1:52:00 [4]28.8 mi (3:53 / mi) +540m 2:17 / km

bike to O meet from home. some steep out-of-the-seat climbs. nice day for a ride. could do without the busy state roads, but it was the only way to get to the park.
