I left myself in a difficult spot and made a quick decision to bail on the last cp. it was downhill about 300m and 10 contours. I should have gone for it as I returned with 7 min left.
pavlina did go for it and she got them all with 2 mins left. doh!

6th place finish. had a great race. physically felt strong, nav was on the whole day. only one bad route choice.
saw a black bear, moving quite fast just ahead of us across the trail while riding our bikes. big bear.
order of events and overall position:
16k orienteering course - 1st place
32 mile bike - 4th place
4 mile hike a bike through nasty terrain - 6th place
9 mile paddle flatwater, some headwind on the return - 7th place
16 mile trek at night - 6th place

no point getting a blister. need to prepare for race next weekend.

25 bike on a variety of roads, jeep track, ATV trail and single track

felt good the whole way. the hightlight was seeing a black mink. didn't know they were even found in these parts. maybe it escaped?
