ok race, no mistakes and ran well. cramped up last two controls, but no real time lost. felt warm afterwards. sinus's were really haywire - sneezing with congestion. need to drink up the tea.

did some walking through time. mostly pre jurassic. north of town near some greenish hills. not sure exactly what it was I was looking at, but could tell there was bones in them thar hills.
found some nice pretrified cedar with beautiful agate. large pieces too. the largest was maybe 20 lbs. also found lots of dino bone fragments and maybe even some coprolite, although I wouldn't know it if I stepped in it.

Adventure Race race 7:05:28 [5]58.0 mi (7:19 / mi) +800m 4:22 / km
shoes: Addidas MTB
Moab Adv. Xstream
6 cp race with no route choice. needless to say I was not happy. I plotted the course, flew over it with google earth and had everything memorized. when the race started I tucked the map in my shirt and did not need it at all.

grueling start up long canyon to the flat tops and highway 313 (paved). turned around from highway 313 along gemini bridge road. followed jeep tracks to the bottom of the bridges and then ran 10 km back up retracing my steps. awesome rappel off of gemini bridge! then back on the bike and riding down (some more up) gemini bridge road to the bike path which led down towards moab and the colorado river. total bike about 64k. race finished with a nice down river paddle - about 17 km.
