| Hike from peekamoose road to woodland valley campground.
2/3rds trail, 1/3rd bushwack snow cover was just deep enough that you had to decide to go with snowshoes or without them. snowshoes would allow you to stay on top, but without them you could still walk easily with the occasional post hole. used the yak trax with great success. great grip. weather was great - started in the fog at 7:30 with a steady wind, then the sun came out and warmed things up. temps were very comfortable and we shed layers down to just a shirt. finished in the dark with a few layers put back on. the bushwack section was brutal in places as we had to find our way through some pretty thick spruce forest. i am still pulling needles out of my clothing and off my body. hike went over peekamoose, table, lone, rocky, balsam cap, friday, cornell and wittenberg mts. | ||
