Sunday Jul 29

running hills (hiking) 2:00:00 [3]4.0 mi (30:00 / mi) +333m 14:49 / km
spiked:0/1c
hike up mt something??? from hazen notch in north VT, just south of jay peak
legs felt like crap but we pushed the climb. downhill was worse. reminds me of the last few miles of escarpement trail when my legs usually start cramping. no cramps, just the overall sensation of pain in the quads. incidently today is the escarpment trail race and I am not there.

Saturday Jul 28

running race (trail) 7:29:26 [5]33.0 mi (13:37 / mi) +1500m 7:25 / km
shoes: Teva Race
jay xc marathon (plus a few miles)
not your basic trail race. yeah, we summited jay, but we also got to run in a river. not once, but three times we had to follow a streamered section through the river. once uphill and the other times downriver. I made up time on these sections and lost some of it on the flats and uphills. I think I was a plus 50 overall during the river sections. oh yeah, we also got to pull ourselves across a river with a rope. I estimate I drank about 12 liters and pissed about a dozen times. it was humid, but that seems very high. I guess I needed it all as towards the end I felt like I could cramp at any momment. I did eat about 1000 caleries as well (bananas, pretzels, bars and gummies) so I don't think I lacked food. I think my body just needs lot's of fluids to maintain equilibrium.

Wednesday Jul 25

bike (road) 2:15:00 [3]33.0 mi (4:06 / mi)
shoes: specialized road
lost two people and waited for 10 minutes talking about bikes to pass the time. then somebody flatted. I rode home alone the last 9 miles. seemed like I was going faster without them.
